Zoning Board of Adjustment
Reference: Variance Appeal for Lot 31, Block 32 of partial replat,
of Wedgewood Village, Section 6
Mr. Paul W. Ratter and Mr. Theodore G. Brackney request a,
variance from the City of Friendswood in order to obtain a building'
permit, which has been rejected by the City Building Inspector for,
the following reason: the requested permit exceeds the City's set-,
back requirements (25 feet from the rear property line and 10 feeti
from the side property line) .
The proposed addition to the above referenced property would
be approximately 5 feet 2 inches from the side property line and
11 feet 10 inches from the rear property line. It is important to
note that in no case is the proposed addition any closer to the
property lines than the existing structure (reference the attached
surveyor inspection report) .
Other items of note involving this request include:
1. A set of building plans/specifications have been prepared.'
by Triad Architects and are available for review by the Board.
2 . The set of plans/specifications have been submitted to the
Wedgewood Homeowners Association for review and were approved April
24, 1990 (see the attached Homeowners Association letter) .
3 . The Friendswood Building Inspector rejected the building
permit on May 2, 1990 for set-back requirement violations.
4 . A $13, 000 window order has been placed with Pella Windows,,
half of which has been paid. If the Board does not approve this;
variance, $5,600 will be forfeited.
In consideration of the above, we respectfully request the
Zoning Board of Adjustment to grant this variance request.
