The Regular Meeting was called to order at 7:02pm with the following people in attendance: Chairman Mark McLean Vice Chairman David O’Farrell Commissioner Arthur Triplette Commissioner Sally Branson Commissioner Jim Nye Commissioner Rich Borghese Commissioner Craig Lovell Xochytl Greer, City Attorney Aubrey Harbin, City Planner Nick Haby, PIO/Planning Manager Becky Summers, Dev. Coordinator 2. Communication from the public/committee liaisons (To comply with provisions of the Open Meetings Act, the Commission may not deliberate on subjects discussed under this agenda item. However, the Commission may direct such subjects be placed on a later regular Commission agenda for discussion and/or possible action.) none 3. Consent Agenda A. Approval of the minutes for the meeting held: 1) March 19, 2015 Motion to approve: Triplette Second: Branson Vote: 7/0 Unanimous Motion carried 4. Consideration and possible action regarding a site plan at 104 Melody Lane for Farmers Insurance office Motion to approve: Lovell MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING HELD THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 2015 AT 7:00 PM CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS 910 S. FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS 2 April 2, 2015 P & Z Meeting Second: Branson Vote: 7/0 Unanimous Motion passed Harbin explained the item was for a new commercial building to which staff had no outstanding issues. She said there are a lot of trees existing on the property and the applicant is keeping most of them. There is a small cluster of trees that will be new to mitigate for the removal of some existing trees during construction. Commissioner O’Farrell stated he had met the applicant, Angela Johnson, a decade ago. He said that her new building will be where he climbed trees as a child; he lived down the road. Commissioner Branson told the applicant how pleased the Commission was with the proposed design. 5. Consideration and possible action regarding future Planning and Zoning Commission meeting dates. Harbin said the next regular meeting is scheduled for April 16, 2015 at 7:00pm. She stated there is one pending resubmittal and if not received in time, the regular meeting could be cancelled. Harbin announced the Whitcomb property rezoning would not be on the upcoming City Council agenda but would be rescheduled for a new Joint Public Hearing on May 4th due to the amount of changes in the proposed PUD since the last JPH. She suggested the Commission also keep their regular meeting on May 7th. Chairman McLean agreed due to the magnitude of the project and said the Commissioners would need the time between meetings to review the PUD documents. 6. Communications from the Commission McLean said he found the Land Use Conference to be very beneficial. He thanked the City for the opportunity to attend the training. 7. Reports A. Council Liaison – absent B. Staff - Harbin thanked the Commissioners that attended the Land Use Conference. She said the conference provided a lot of good information. She said the Bus Tour dates staff is proposing are April 23rd or May 14th. She asked that the Commissioners check their schedules for availability and respond via email. 8. The Regular Meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission adjourned at 7:16pm.
