NOTICE OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, TO BE HELD THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER
18, 2014, BEGINNING AT 7 PM, IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF CITY HALL
LOCATED AT 910 S. FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS
REGULAR MEETING
1. The Regular Meeting was called to order at 7:02pm with the following people in
attendance:
Commissioner Jim Nye Commissioner Sally Branson
Commissioner Craig Lovell Commissioner Arthur Triplette
Commissioner Rich Borghese Aubrey Harbin, City Planner
Becky Summers, Dev. Coordinator City Attorney, Xochytl Greer
Nick Haby, PIO/Planning Manager Councilman Steve Rockey, Liaison
Absent: McLean, O’Farrell
2. Communication from the public/committee liaisons
(To comply with provisions of the Open Meetings Act, the Commission may not deliberate
on subjects discussed under this agenda item. However, the Commission may direct such
subjects be placed on a later regular Commission agenda for discussion and/or possible
action.)
None
3. Consent Agenda
A. Approval of the minutes for the meeting held:
1) September 8, 2014
Motion to approve: Branson
Second: Triplette

4. Consideration and possible action regarding a partial replat, Winward Nasa, a
subdivision of .5963 acres located in the Sarah McKissick Survey A-549, being a partial
replat of Block 17, Reserve H, Forest Bend Section 3 recorded in Volume 180, Page 73
Harris County Map Records, Friendswood, Harris County, Texas
Motion to approve: Triplette
Second: Branson
Vote: 5/0 Unanimous Motion carried
Harbin explained this is a replat of the property for the recently approved Tires By Design
SUP. It is the last remaining piece of Reserve H.
5. Consideration and possible action regarding a site plan for 211 W. Edgewood Dr., also
known as Friendswood Professional Building B
Motion to approve: Lovell
Second: Triplette
Vote: 5/0 Unanimous Motion carried
Harbin stated this is a professional building being designed and built in conjunction with
the recently approved Building A. The owner wanted to save the large, mature trees on the
property and had the architect design the building around the existing trees. The metal roof
wraps down the side to form a wall and requires Commission approval since the property is
in the COD. The metal wall will face Building A.
6. Consideration and possible action regarding amendments to the Zoning Ordinance Section
20. Definitions P. Home Occupations
Nye tabled the discussion until the next P&Z meeting since the Chairman and Vice
Chairman were both absent.
7. Consideration and possible action regarding future Planning and Zoning Commission
meeting dates
The next regular meeting is scheduled for October 2nd.
8. Communications from the Commission
Lovell attended the Library meeting but said there was not anything related to Planning and
Zoning to report. Branson attended the City Council meeting and also had nothing
pertaining to the Commission to report.
9. Reports
A. Council Liaison – Rockey stated the first Farmer’s Market will be held October 4th
in Stevenson Park
B. Staff - none
10. The Regular Meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission adjourned at 7:13pm.
