MINUTES OF A SPECIAL SESSION AND JOINT PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, HELD MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2007, AT 7:00 PM, IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF CITY HALL, LOCATED AT 910 S. FRIENDSWOOD DR IVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS
SPECIAL SESSION
1.) Call to order
The meeting was called to order at 7:31 pm with the following present:
Chairman Jim Gibson Commissioner David O'Fanell
Commissioner Hassan Moghaddam Commissioner Michael Brown
Commissioner Sheny Weesner City Planner Mona Miller
Commissioner Roy Klusendorf
2.) Discussion with City Council regarding proposed changes to the Downtown District Zoning
Ordinance
Mayor Smith explained the process thus far in developing and adopting the Downtown Dsitrict
zoning. The City Council members and Planning and Zoning Commissioners held a lengthy
discussion about the proposed changes. City Attorney John Olson and others expressed concern
with the amendment that allowed the Commission to approve alternatives to certain requirements
"at their discretion". EDC Coordinator Karen Capps expressed her concern with the 15'
sidewalk re'"!_ni1·ement on side streets.
3.) Adjournment
The special session adjourned at 8:04 pm.
JOINT DOCKETED PUBLIC HEARING
1.) Call to order
The Joint Docketed Public Hearing was called to order at 8:05 pm.
2.) Receive comments from the public, both oral and written, regarding a zone classification change
for 2.336 acres on FM 2351, between Hope Village Road and Beamer Road, from Community
Shopping Center (CSC) and Industrial (I) to Light Industrial (LI)
Michael Wallace, part owner, explained their application for a zone change and the proposed
project. He explained that they are proposing retail uses on the front of the property in
accordance with the existing Community Shopping Center zoning, and light industrial uses on
the rear of the property.
No one spoke against the request.

The Joint Docketed Public Hearing adjourned at 8: 10 pm.
