This amount of space is necessary to meet the State Welfare requirements of 35 square feet per child. The location of this room would be most useful to us in the position noted in red on the attached drawings. The attached plans are the ones that were submitted to the State Department of Welfare, Regional Licensing Sub-Office of Galveston County. They were approved by them in a letter dated April 1, 1971. The plans were next submitted to the Planning Commission j of the City of Friendswood. In a letter dated April 18, 19712 the Commission stated that there was no "objection in principle to our application" , but that a variance .would be required to permit the set-back along Laurel Dr. to be less than 30 feet. I. therefore, respectfully request that a variance to Ordinance 132 be granted. Friendswood Private Day School would be in compliance with Section 11, 3, a, subsections (1) , (2) 2 (3) , and (4) of the afore-mentioned ordinance. Yours truly, aCJ, Joan D.
