Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. 2. Communications from the public: Eagle Scout, Thomas Basciano was present to ask about adding a Ramp to Renwick Park, $1500 for a wood ramp, concrete ramp will be around $4 to $5 thousand for an ADA Ramp for Renwick Park. He is asking the board’s suggestion on what would be best for Renwick. Natasha suggested making a FB page for fundraising and we could share the information, 3. Discussion/Approval October 22, 2019 minutes: Patty made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Sherry second the motion and the motion was approved unanimously. 4. Volunteer Hours: Please update your hours. 5. Committee Reports A. Executive Committee: Fall Haul Report: Natasha thanked for everyone attending, lots of volunteers from the high school helped out. We had great attendance this year with 670 cars and trucks coming through the gates. Waste Connections reported to have hauled away 79.85 tons of compacted debris. A Total of 9396 pounds of electronics was collected for e-cycling as well. We collected 18 bags of trash at the Adopt a Highway Cleanup on FM518 and 309 lbs. of clothes dropped off for Simple Recycling, the garage sale brought in $925. Sherry suggested starting asking other non-profits to help for Adopt Highway events as well. Santa in the Park Sign Up: Natasha passed around the Santa in the Park signup sheet. Elf Hunt: Katy stated that board members want to have a booth at SIP, thought it would be good idea to promote the Fairy Trail, we’ll have a board member guide them thru and they’ll get a color book to promote the trail. Patty spends up to $250 on the Elf Hunt Giveaway, Justin second the motion. HEB Green Bag Grant: Natasha informed the board that we did receive the Green Bag grant for $1500; we met with the community outreach director, Natalie Rhodes and had a very positive meeting. We are working on applying for corporate grant from HEB to fund the Fairy trail. Upcoming Grant Preparation Meeting: Michael, Sherry, Susan, Natasha and Kimberly are planning to meet on grant preparations. Marketing Materials: Patty made a motion to spend up to $1,000 on promotional items, reusable cups, birdhouses, Sherry second the motion, and the motion was approved unanimously. VOMO-Volunteer Management App: Katy described the Volunteer app that the city wants to purchase, Natasha stated the comparison of the Track it forward to the new app and how beneficial it will be for our board. Michael made a motion to approve $2000 for the new volunteer app, VOMO, Justin second the motion and the motion passed unanimously. Fairy Trail Update-Shawn Potter: The fairy trail is going to be a KFB project, Paul has volunteered to do the woodworking along with /Cheryl’s husband. Budget: Natasha informed the board of the Keep Texas Beautiful conference wants to know who wants to attend, Kaye, Patty, Michael, Brandee, Sherry, Tim and Natasha. B. Keep Texas Beautiful Coca-Cola Recycling Grant: Michael stated he is looking into this grant for Coca- Cola and will apply. C. Public Awareness Social Media Updates: Brandee informed the group of the likes for Facebook, 2913, that’s a 26% increase, Instagram has 275 likes, up 2% top post; announcing of Fall Haul, and follow up pictures. Day after Thanksgiving the install the Christmas tree was the most popular post. Light up Friendswood Contest: We are planning to have the board vote on the decorated businesses, category, one for downtown, citywide, window, best overall. Voting will be December 9th-12th, announce winner at Santa in the Park. Education: Sherry stated we have the info for the pollinator garden brochure, the brochure for KFB, and the pollinator garden activity guide will be printed soon. Susan made a motion to approve up to $150 for the pollinator garden brochure, Patty second the motion and it was passed unanimously. E. Beautification: Pollinator Garden Project Update: Kaye and Susan planted seeds at the garden; they got milkweed seeds from Michigan. The Mexican Heather in the garden is too wet, Kaye stated we are Going to drill holes in the edging along the sidewalk. We are also going to add a lime tree and another citrus tree by the Stevenson Park fence, an area behind the cameras. We also got a water hose and fencing for the garden. Code enforcement was notified of the old Lary’s Florist to clean up and it was taken care of. Tree Giveaway-Vendor Updates: Todd picked out 100 trees for the tree giveaway; Board has a choice of Red oak, bald cypress, live oak, bur oak, Leland cypress, cedar elms, vitex, and pride of Houston yaupon. Board decided on 30 Red oak, 20 live oak, 10 Yaupon Holly’s, 25 Cedar Elm, and 15 Vitex. Patty made a motion to approve $1500 for 100, 15-gallon trees, Paul second, the motion and the motion was passed unanimously. F. Parks: Dog Park is complete, fencing and gates. As far as the bond, the AB would be a home for our parks dept., space is getting limited in City hall. Adding to the summer day camp and summer programming would be planned at the new facility if bond were passed. Also on the list is to install a rubber-walking trail around Stevenson Park, Pool improvements. Paul stated that they decided on the streetlight for downtown, they will purchase the lights soon, implementation would start 2022. G. Environmental Action: Last week was American Recycling Day. Brands are getting a lot of pressure on recycling, there is funding from other organizations as far as grants, and giving communities money for carts and bins, we need to make sure we got a solid survey on recycling; companies are looking to fund communities for recycling. 6.
