Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. 2. Discussion/Approval of June 27, 2017 Minutes and August 22, 2017 Minutes: Patty made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Susan seconds the motion and the motion was approved unanimously. 3. Communications/Guests: Erika Adams attended the meeting and is interested in joining the board, as well as returning guest, Michael and Brandee Fernandez Sherry informed the new volunteers that it is required to attend an event before you can be recommended as a new board member, once a new volunteer has attended an event, we will submit your name as a recommendation to council. A. Volunteer Hours: Send Sherry volunteer’s hours. B. Committee Reports (Oral and Written) **Executive Committee---Met on September 19, 2017: For the clean-up we had 13 Volunteers show up from the Recycle Club. We did receive our supplies from KTB the day before. Sponsor letter, has gone out mailed last Thursday. We’re meeting with Alan Rasmussen with HomeTown Bank to secure this year’s sponsorship. Katy informed the board that Hometown change their company Christmas party so they can finally attend the event this year. We had some issues with the beds get some soil replaced and some new plants but all in all the park looks great. **Keep Texas Beautiful---Susan Stephens: KTB offered supplies for our Fall Sweep, that’s a new event for KTB. Susan stated I kept Oct 21st on the calendar in case we have another work day for the event. America Recycles Day runs in conjunction with Fall Haul. **Public Awareness---Natasha McAdoo: The reach was up 37%, page likes up 70%. Decorating contest, we’re delivering the flyer and not mailing the letter. FDF agreed to help promote the event. Sherry stated that when we decide on a date you can get some people to help you deliver the business downtown. **Education—Patty Steinke: NA **Beautification---Kaye Corey: Native plant workshop on October 21st at the library, you can sign up online. **Parks—Tom Goodwin-NA **Environmental Action---Paul Marx: Business beautification, was awarded to the Blue Monkey which is the Pumpkin patch on FM2351 C. Median Maintenance: Median maintained on FM518m TXDOT has been notified and responded by stated they will take care of damage, FM2351 were getting 3 quotes on replacing soil, mulch, weed and fertilize along with fixing ruts D. Keep Friendswood Beautiful **September 23 Cleanup/Future Plans for Stevenson Park: The Harvey Benefit Concert brought in $10,000. **Native Plants Speaker--October 21 from 10:00-11:30-Library—Lauren Simpson will be the speaker, registration is online only. **Fall Haul---November 11---Centennial-We’re ready for the event, will not be accepting wet paper due to it will cause damage to the machine, will need to check paper first. **Stevenson Solar Lights –We have placed an order for the arms of the lights but their backordered 7 to 8 weeks due to Hurricane Harvey. **Holiday Decorating Contest Update: We need to create an incentive for businesses to participate. Have any ideas? Take a professional picture of winner and put on city website. **Santa in the Park Update: Kimberly informed the group that event is 50% confirmed, we met with HomeTown Bank and they have Ok’d the sponsorship of $10,000. Sponsor letters went out September 21st, Christmas decorations will go up November 11th, weather pending. We’re also going with a new fireworks company this year, going to have a new app for the event and a video wall similar to the one we used for the 4th of July so we can live stream the parade at Santa in the Park. **Liberty Tree: Eagle Scout has adopted this project, not sure when it’s scheduled but Friendswood Firewood will trim the tree in the winter and Bart Beale will be treating the fungus. Board asked to find out a work date so they can help the Eagle Scout. Kaye wanted to thank Rhonda for the property on FM528, Kaye stated after talking to her within a couple weeks it looks 100%better. **Harvey Cleanup---City Update: Kimberly informed the group that 2300 homes flooded in Friendswood, 260 we destroyed; this means homes with over 5ft of water in them, 212 multifamily residences flooded and 70 businesses flooded. Right now we have 5 large tandem trucks that are picking up debris along with 10 small trucks with bobcats. By tomorrow we will have 20 trucks picking up debris. 4. New Business: NA 5.
