Committee Reports **Executive Committee-Sherry/Susan **Public Awareness-Natasha McAdoo: Natasha stated she did attend one of the social media sessions at the conference, it was very interesting and the biggest takeaway was that Facebook is the most primary used social media outlet. She stated if you see anything out there right now please send it to her. **Education-Patty Steinke (Presentation supplies): **Beautification-Kaye Corey: Kaye attended the KTB Conference and one session was on pocket gardens. Promote water smart gardens, butterfly gardens and education. Very concerned about the trees at the library and how they need to be protected and the contractor is working to protect them to some degree. **Parks-Tom Goodwin: He encouraged all the board to bike, hike at the lake. The bridge is moving forward. If you run across Caden please encourage him, he received his first large donation. **Environmental Action-Paul Marx: Paul stated that the Friends of Downtown Friendswood would be interested in create pocket gardens in Friendswood. C. Median Maintenance/Grant Project Update on 518 and replanting on 2351: Sherry stated FM518 have been cleared out, some residence are a little concerned. The trees from 518 have been moved to Centennial Park and the Sports Park, we’re still working on getting the signs up after the 4th of July, if you hear anything please tell people to bear with us. The city has done an awesome job with getting things done with clearing the medians. Kaye was at the sports park and there are crepe myrtles and knockout roses were planted at the sports park and it looks beautiful. Which brings us to FM2351 there has been some concerns there, weeds theirs a whole list of things? We met with Corey were trying to come up with solutions and ways and not spend a ton on money and there was a problem with a guarantee with the plants it’s just one of those things that happened. The lantana died, some of those plants in there weren’t looking very good because of the irrigation. Replace with sod, replace lantana ultimately it would be between Corey and the city but replacing all of the plants its way more than kfb can cover and the city can cover. We’re working with Corey and have them look presentable and getting the irrigation working. Kaye stated the Aztec grass wants to come back and that’s a possibility that it could be nurtured some but there’s some lantana that could be salvaged but wedelia, it’s a ground cover that you could not kill it spreads very quickly and has yellow flowers. Wedelia to me seems like the cheapest way to go and provides the color green and yellow. We talked about doing a trial median. Theirs a strip of green grass in there would not hurt the look and can be mowed. Staff got with TxDOT and we can start working on fixing the irrigation and bill them and then we can decide a plan to start fixing the medians. D.
