1. Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:34 pm
2. Discussion and approval of March 22, 2016 minutes: Martha, Frank
3. Communication/Guest-Show Video from report to Council: Caden, Life scout soon to be Eagle Scout
was a guest at the meeting to inform the board of his project. Dog park, list of time and cost estimates
of the project. Sherry stated he has some nice plans and good ideas to help him raise funds. Falcon
Ridge is one of the groups that presented a matching grant. They have a new board, starting in January
maintained the medians, common areas and the entrance. Their ready to take a project on the blvd that
is well traveled. Spending funds on other project in the neighborhood, the front entrance looks terrible
and plan to do something down the rode, their plan is working on the second and third median and
make it look semetrical and a lot better looking than what it looks like now. They have working hard to
find people to perform the best job with all of our volunteers. It’s a big project and the volunteers have
done a great job. We haven’t had finances to do it and now, kaye stated that they have all of their
estimates, color pictures and their quotes. Kaye stated she appreciates this and if you have any
questions. In the venture that we had, do the plans have to be exact to what we have presented, I
wanted to make sure their isn’t loop holes. Sherry stated we will vote on the matching grant tonight
and kaye will notify you tomorrow. Sherry appreiciarted that the hoa’s are taking the incetive and help
keep friendswood beautiful.

B. Committee Reports
**Executive Committee-Sherry Goen/Susan Stephens: sherry informed the group that starting next
month we’re going to be meeting with the subcommittees at 6pm, next meeting in may at 5:30 I want
all new board members and go over the process on how we started this and choose your
subcommittee.we have a process on how we communicate and I ask that I cc’d on any communication
with each other or with staff. She informed them that katy only works in p & r part time. We need to
do this in a timely fashing and in an organized way. James informed the board of whats going on in the
parks department right now and just ask for patience. Katy informed the board that if your
subcommittee is interested in doing a event please fill out the worksheet and timeline.
**Public Awareness—
**Education—Patty Steinke katy informed the board of the photo contest. Patty stated on may 10th we
are going to visit a daisy group and june
**Beautification—Kaye Corey (Matching Grant Selection) kaye stated we have another application for
the matching grant, it came in before falcon ridge. Orchard, they have 12 houses on the street, their
plan is to landscape the city right away. James stated its in the citys right away and we would have to go
into a licesne agreement with this group, with the caveat that if the city would do any work on that right
away, the city will not be responsible for replacing the landscaping. –
Patty made a motion to approve falcon ridge for the matching grant, todd second the motion and the
motion passed unanimously.
**Parks—Tom Goodwin (Sports Park Grand Opening is May 29-Plans for KFB): tom stated he wants to
move forward a combination of things. James stated that the naming of the facilty has a new name,
we’re going to have a ribbon cutting on the 29th. Invites all board members to attend, wear your shirts.
James informed the board of the status of the parks projects. Reader board is in the process of being
installed. Sports park, add 4 new softball fields, upgraded the lighting, take down wooden poles and put
up concrete poles. We have 2 new restroom buildings and a concession attached to that as well. New
fencing and nettings. We’re hoping it to be completed by may 29th. Improved the parking lot, double
the size of the parking. Lake friendswood, the lake should soon be open in the fall, west ranch has
installed a parking lot and will be building a restroom and pavilion, and a concrete trail that will go
around the entire complex, boat, kayak launch and small bbq pits. Bridge at ocp, schedule to be
delivered in april but it is postponed to may 2nd, footings are already in place, will have security lighting
along the rain and on each side, 10 ft bridge, off of the trail here in Stevenson cross over Shadwell will
start the sidewalk to the bridge and once you cross over the bridge the sidewalk will continue to old city
park. Will be building a new covered pavilion, restroom building , dog park and more upgrades.
Basketball pavilion ata centennial park, past the amphiteather near the pavilion it is already staked out,
hoping to have it in place for the 4th of july. Covered, 6 goals. Sidewalks in front of city hall and
Stevenson park, 10ft pavers, benches and lighting. Baker rd. park near fcc has been purchased. 27
acres that the city purchased for $500,00-0 it will be developed into a soccer complex and some
multipurchase fields.
**Environmental Action—Paul Marx
C. Median Maintenance/Grant Project Update/Cleaning out of Medians Update: 60 trees will be moved
and relocarted to other facilities. Tree removal will start soon.
D. Keep Friendswood Beautiful
**Budget Considerations: table
**Stevenson Landscaping: landscaping has been completed corey has done a great job.
**KTB Youth Award Update (Deadline is May 3) youth award will be submitted next week ms Woodley is
nominated.
KTB Conference: ktb door prize at the conference, all the cities bring something. Sherry asked Martha if
downtown friendswood would be interested to donate a door prize,
**Rain Barrel Worshop (august 6) scheduled for august
**Spring Sparkle Report
**FHS Recycling Club Report for earth day the recycle club has planted their tree they received from the
tree giveaway.
**Back to School Event w/Vocal Trash and FISD (Friday, May 13 in Stevenson-Board members there at
6:30 in KFB Shirts):
**Meeting with Stephanie Hendtrickson of the water smart program. Sherry informed the group that
james, kim and sherry had a meeting with water smart program. It is all funded, materials, engineering
and plants. Theirs 3 groups that we’re looking at landscaping. Stevenson, centennial and the lake. Their
going to come to the board meeting in june.
Their $60 total of $240 a year, a rock and the plaque for each beautification award. Effectly
immediately. Martha second,.
