Call to order: Call to order 6:36 p.m. 2. Discussion/approval of February 24, 2015 and March 24, 2015 minutes: Susan made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Patty second the motion and the motion passed unanimously. 3. Communications/Guest: NA A. Volunteer hours: Sherry asked board to turn in their volunteer hours. B. Median Maintenance: Corey with cornerstone will treat medians for caterpillars. Kaye stated that the pictures from the medians were wonderful and we will get credit for the pictures on the master gardeners. C. Keep Friendswood Beautiful **Keep Texas Beautiful: Kimberly is still working on that. **Governors grant update did get feedback from the grant: Received positive inform from the score and comments on the grant. Sherry informed the group about possible projects for the grant. She informed the group to use the FM2351 landscaping concept for new landscaping on FM518. Sherry suggested add new landscape on FM518 and then finish FM2351. The way FM2351 is designed and use similar pattern on the FM518 medians. James stated that it’s probably going to cost $58,000 to complete FM2351. James stated that the FM2351 design belongs to the city. Patty stated use something similar to FM2351 but use the same concept. Sherry suggested finish FM2351 or landscape FM518. Susan suggested doing something that makes a really big statement. Possibly add lighting to the bridges. Patty stated that she sees Susan’s point but we have struggled with being able to fund the landscaping on the FM518 medians. Todd suggested adding the chemical, prodomomien to control weeds. Todd stated you have to realize you can install the most beautiful landscaping in the world but you have to maintain it and have the funding for it. Kaye made a motion to use the grant funds on landscaping FM518 medians, Martha second the motion and the motion passed unanimously. They would like to meet soon. **Texas New Mexico grant: Susan stated we're meeting tomorrow. We have a month to get it all written. **KFB report to city council Monday May 4 @ 7pm: Sherry stated we are making our annual report to council; I have a report that is going to include everyone and to thank people that helped us win that award. We would like for you to be able to come on Monday May 4th. The plan is to meet outside and will play “we are the champions” as the board walks into council chambers. Be outside the council chambers at 6:45pm. **KTB Conference: Kim, Sherry, James, Katy and Roger will be in attendance. **Entrance sign: James stated that we are moving forward and will be on the June agenda to accept the donation from Mr. Steven. We then provide Ronnie with the deposit. **Rain barrel program report: We did have a meeting with the Galveston Bay; we will install a rain barrel in the park. We’re working on getting the rain barrel painted and then install at the pavilion in Stevenson Park. They provide all of the materials and presentation and will sell the barrels at $40 to individuals. On July 18. 9:30-11:30. **FHS Recycling club update/KTB leadership awards: Katy stated that they have an upcoming clean up for the end of the year and their asking for our assistance. They would like to have a few members from KFB in attendance. Thursday May 28 at 4pm. Susan and Katy will be meeting tomorrow and they will submit the leadership awards on May 4th. **Spring Sparkle/don’t mess with Texas: Sherry stated it was a good turnout, not that much was received for the garage sale due to the weather. **Santa in the park budget consideration update: We still have funds left from the Santa in the park revenue. The electronic reader board in Stevenson Park is dated because you can’t buy parts for it anymore. Do you want to use the funds from Santa in the Park and combine with some other funds to pay for a new electronic reader board? Patty made a motion that the money we have from Santa in the park uses it to contribute to a new electronic reader board in Stevenson Park, with the KFB logo on the sign. Susan second the motion and the motion passed unanimously. **Power washing report: James stated that the company has been out several times and his machine broke but he is working on completing the project. Everything is done except for the Clear Creek Bridge. **Update on locations for banners on 528: James will need to get with TxDOT on where we’re allowed to install banners along FM528. D. Committees **Business Beautification award: The sign was delivered to CL Davis. **Concert in the park signup sheet: Sherry suggested having KFB at the concerts; please sign the signup sheet if you’re interested in attending. E. New business banners: James stated we are looking to replace some of the banners but we need to take care of the ones we have now. Kaye wanted to thank James, Kim and Karen Capps for adding Friendswood in the TxDOT travel magazine. F. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:51pm.
