C. Keep Friendswood Beautiful
**Keep America Beautiful Update (Kimberly): Kimberly is working on membership in Keep
America Beautiful.
**Grant/Awards/Reporting Update (Kimberly): All reporting to KTB has been completed and
we maintained our Gold Star status. We will submit applications for youth awards due May 5.
**Governor’s Grant/Project Suggestions: We need to find out if the money can be split up for
projects or if it is just for one project. Ask when we talk with KTB representative on April 2.
Landscaping on 518, Decorative Lights on 518, electronic sign @ Stevenson, Decorative
enhancements with sidewalks on bridge on 518, large statement entrance sign coming off I45.
James recommended and board like the idea of a field trip to visit area winners of GCAW to see
what they have done. (Angleton, Alvin, Dickinson, Pearland, etc.)
**2015 KTB Conference in Ft. Worth (Awards Dinner on June 16):
**Entrance Sign Update: Waiting on paperwork and contact with property owner to be
completed and approval by council for entrance sign at League City.
**Eagle Scout Project in Stevenson: Ben Strope’s Eagle Scout project is completed in
Stevenson. City is putting in irrigation and possibly moving the bed borders away from trees.
**Rain Barrel Program Report (Kate): Board approved $1,000 for Rain Barrel Workshop. Kate
will get with James and contact the people responsible for setting up workshop. Date is July 18.
**FHS Recycling Club Update (Katie): Coordinate with Kate regarding information about
workshop. Recycling Club sent out another batch of caps. Katie will work on youth award
applications for Recycling Club, club sponsor and possibly two scouts (Ben and Cooper).
**Movie in the Park (KFB Sponsors): Board still wants to have a table at Concerts in the Park
with possible door prizes.
**Spring Sparkle/Don’t Mess with Texas—April 18@ Centennial: Katy will design a postcard
size notice about what Keep Friendswood Beautiful does and information about the Rain Barrel
Workshop to be handed out at Spring Sparkle on April 18. Spring Sparkle @ Centennial---need
someone to secure lunch for everybody. That’s contacting Pete @ Sonic and asking him if he
will donate lunch---calling in the order on day of event and going to pick it up. Let me know if
someone can do this.
**Santa in the Park Considerations: Board was not in favor of spending $ on tree extension.
Rather spend it on fireworks like we had last year---We need a bid from fireworks company if
we can spend the money from left over funds from SIP. Still check on needed electrical in Park.
We also would like a price for totally wrapping (to the top) about 3 threes in the park or in
front of city hall.
*Power Washing Report (James): Cost of chemical treatment for 5 bridges was approved
($7800) with company throwing in 5 entrance signs for free (James called him during meeting
and guy said he would do the signs). James also said he would check to see if Parks and Rec. can
cover some of this cost.
**Clean up of City Hall Entrance (Kaye): Cleaning of city hall, entrance signs, sidewalk, beds in
Stevenson and general sprucing up is underway for the TxDOT video.
**Update on Locations for banners for FM528 (James): Board would like to see about KFB
banners @ Blackhawk (528) and West Ranch to include Harris County side. Need to check sizes
to see if they would show well up for drivers on those highways.
D. Committees:
**Business Beautification Award: C.L. Davis Survey Company off Winding Way. Place big sign
out on Winding Way and then a small yard sign with Business Beautification Award on it in front
of building because it is off the road. (We need to get the small sign made).
E. New Business: Table
F. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
