Call to order: call to order at 6:28 pm 2. Discussion/approval of January 27, 2015: Martha made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Todd second the motion and it was approved unanimously. 3. Communication/Guests: Sherry thanked the board and staff for winning the GCAA award. We’re sad that we lost board member, Jeremy but we're thankful that we have Corey Chism wanting to join the board. David O’Farrell was present to visit with the board representing the Planning and zoning board, he stated he bikes and walks a lot. He tried to commute in this city as a bicyclist; it’s very dangerous to travel by bike in this city. Seems like a city like ours should have sidewalks. My vision is to have a very nice sidewalk from FM2351 to Stevenson Park, at least one side. If you build those sidewalks they will come. P & Z is 100 % support on this. David stated he wanted to inform KFB about this. The KFB board is in support of the P & Z sidewalk effort. A. Volunteer hours: Sherry informed board to submit their volunteer hours. B. Median maintenance: James informed the board that we’re not trimming the crepe myrtles this year. C. Keep Friendswood Beautiful **Keep American Beautiful update: Still in the process **Grant/awards reporting update: Conference will be in FT. Worth this year; we will have a conference call with TxDOT and KTB and see what the next process is. Keep Alvin Beautiful sandblast their bridges. Keep Pearland Beautiful did a huge entrance sign. Lake Jackson also did a large entrance sign. Other options are landscaping medians and it has to be on a TxDOT road. On the deciding factor it would be input from the city, the board and TxDOT. Conference is June 15-17. **Entrance sign update: Martha stated that it has been surveyed. **Rain barrel program report-Kate: Cathy is trying to find sponsors; event date is on July 18. Board thinks we would get a lot of interest in this. Find out if we could donate or charge, split the cost. Rsvp attendance. Registration fee. **FHS Recycling Club update: They have been donating the plastic caps from bottles to a church and the church would donate to an organization called caps of love and they recycle the caps into wheel chairs. 2 kids were recently given 2 recycled wheel chairs. The church has stopped shipping caps, shipping cost around $20, and club doesn’t have a budget. Ms. Woodley suggested to ship twice a month and the club will pay one shipment and if we could help ship the other shipment. Katy asked board if we're willing to partner in this project and donate caps and pay for a shipment once a month. Patty made a motion to spend $20 to $25 every other week to ship caps for the Caps of Love Organization, Martha second the motion and eh motion passed unanimously. **Spring Sparkle/Don’t Mess with Texas Date: Spring Sparkle will be scheduled on April the 18th. **Santa in the park budget considerations: Waiting on quote for the Christmas tree extension, meeting with electrician tomorrow on adding electrical to Stevenson Park. Quote on banners $1020. Patty made a motion to spend $1020 for Christmas themed banners, Chris second the motion and the motion passed unanimously. **Power washing report: James informed the board of the quote on each bridge in Friendswood. They did a test spot on the bridge on FM2351. **Football recycling containers: Katy stated that she talked about it with the recycling club. High school not sure if they could recycle it. Does recycling have containers for front mount; Todd asked if we could take it to the school. It’s not in Progressive's contract. **update on new Teachers luncheon: Staff purchased small recycle bins for the 2015 Teachers luncheons. D. Committees business beautification award: Buzbee’s property off of Friendswood Dr was awarded this quarter’s beautification award. E. New Business: FM528, could we add banners on FM 528. Bay Area and Autumn Creek. We need to include the FM528 area. Look into adding more banners at West Ranch, FM528 and Bay Area Blvd and Public safety building. Bird sanctuary. Susan stated that you have to pay for $250 a year for the registration fee. She will look more into this later. F.
