In July council created the Parks adhoc committee, they discuss how we can improve our parks with parks the dedication funds. James Toney informed the board of how the parks dedications funds works. The adhoc committee has met to discuss how to distribute the funds throughout city parks. The following are the parks improvements that have been improved. Install a bridge that will connect Stevenson Park to Old City Park, light a Centennial park field, improvements to Stevenson park; redo the sidewalk and ramp at the gazebo and install a drive from Shadwell to the gazebo. James asked if KFB had a preference on what type of material they would like used on the drive. Pavers or colored stamped concrete. We're also looking into taking Imperial Estates and create a dog park, a disc golf park and hike and bike trails and also including 1776 into Imperial Park and incorporate both parks. We could use funds to help fund the dog park. Lake Windmere, there has been some issues out there recently. There has been discussion in fencing the lake off and $300,000 has been allocated to add pavilion, floating pier, security lighting and improvements to the road. To do Lake Windermere correctly we are thinking of putting out a bond in May. We would like to get KFB involved in some of those items especially Stevenson park by getting your blessing and recommendation. D. Keep Friendswood Beautiful Banners: We have talked about some kind of banners in Renwick Park, we have identified the locations but we are waiting for the hardware to be shipped. James stated that we established 4 concrete light poles that we will install the banners. We ordered 20 new banners that stated “Welcome” and “Keep Friendswood Beautiful” for FM2351. Home for the Holiday’s with HomeTown Bank and KFB presents the 5th annual Santa in the Park event is the name of this year’s event. HomeTown agreed to sponsor the event in the amount of $20,000 and $10,000 for the next 5 years. $15,000 is the cost for the tree; Bright lights of Houston will supply the tree and decorate it. I think he’s going to reply pretty soon. They want to limit the number of political signs and where their placed. Downtown criteria report: P & Z has approved everything we recommended. Staff had 2 issues who were going to maintain and will it apply to existing dwelling. It was not going to be preexisting and just new developments if a business elected to do this on their own would they be obligated to do everything. Huntingwood’s elected to do the pavers but they wouldn’t be obligated to do everything. Our latest development here in Friendswood didn’t do anything that we wanted for the downtown area. James stated that staff is working with him and how they could get him to conform to these things. Sherry stated that working with P & Z was very enlightening. I feel very strongly that P & Z has been very supported. Mona has done an outstanding job thru this whole process. FM2351 needs to be swept; James stated that there are no funds available to sweep that area. Patty stated that there are areas that are the worse near Imperial Estates with leaf debris and the same trash that has been there for a long time. James stated that Public works have cut the contract with the street sweeper. James stated that he would get quotes on how much it would cost to sweep quarterly. 4.
