1. Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m.
2. Discussion/approval of October 25th and November 8, 2011 minutes: Patty Steinke made
a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Martha Cotton second the motion and the motion
was passed unanimously.
3. Communications/Guests: Guest, Girl Scout Troop #23024 was in attendance at the meeting to
inform the board that they will donate all their profits from the bake sale they had at Santa in the Park
event. All the girls’ scouts are in seventh grade and they are working on getting their silver award
project, which means they need to do a service project so they can acquire their patches. They announced
that they received $150.00 in sales from the Santa in the Park event. Sherry asked what type of project is
they interested in doing. James Toney suggested plant trees on the outer sides of Stevenson Park. Susan
S suggested adopting a spot or landscape near the pool. The girls scouts decided to adopt the pool bed.
A. Volunteer Hours
B. Median Maintenance Design medians/Irrigation for median across from Perry’s: Table
Perry’s discussion.
James stated that they will be going out for bid for the landscaping on FM2351 project. Dave
McCullough will be helping James design specs for the irrigation. Board looked at pictures of
Pearland medians on Magnolia St for ideas on landscaping the FM2351 medians. James invited
the board to attend the irrigation meeting he will have with Dave McCullough on February 8th.
C. Santa in the Park Report: The event went well up to 1500 people attended the event. The
Board would like to move the food booth closer to the Santa line. James Toney stated the
Chamber would like to have KFB sell Chick fill A at their Car show/Fig Fest.
D. Keep Friendswood Beautiful
**Grant Writing---Grant due February 7th: Grant is due February 7th,
subcommittee will meet tomorrow at 1pm at City Hall. Subcommittee will also meet
this Friday so Patty can be the final reader and proof the Grant. Kimberly will mail
grant out on February 2nd. Sherry did apply to be a grant reader for the Governor’s
Award grant from KTB.
**Workshop on Irrigation: Susan D. has contracted the continuing education
department at FISD for classes on irrigation
.
**Tree Giveaway Date Report: 135 trees were given away at the Tree Giveaway,
all trees were gone within 20 minutes. Will make a decision in august on whether to
add seedlings next year to the event. The board received $179 dollars in donations.
**Solar Lighting in Stevenson: James Toney stated that Jeremy with Texas Solar
Lighting has 25 lights from a TSU installation that he can repaint for Stevenson Park.
We can purchase the lights in phases; James toney will be purchasing a light from the
Stevenson Park budget at $1500 each including repainting and installation. Paul
Mark made a motion to purchase 1 of the solar lights from TSU with the City logo on
it, Mary Stockwell second the motion and the motion passed unanimously. Paul
suggested offering the purchase of lights for Stevenson Park as a sponsorship.
**Landscaping and solar lighting at Animal Shelter: Manor Maintenance
installed the landscaping at the new animal shelter Sign, cornerstone installed
irrigation and Texas Solar Resources installed solar lighting.
**Sub Committee on Downtown Development Report: NA
**Affiliate Signs and Sign at Post Office: The KFB partnership sign is up at the
post office. Loretta asked how long we should leave the sign up. Board suggested 3
months. Susan made a motion to purchase 2 more KTB signs at $75 each, Mary
Stockwell second the motion and the motion was passed unanimously.
**Border stones in front of City Hall: The stones will be installed next month.
**Recycle Bins for FHS: Susan S stated that the high school will distribute the bins
to the teachers that were on the waiting list. Susan S and Sherry would like to be at
their next meeting.
**Friends of Stevens Sub Committee Report: James, Loretta and Sherry will be
on the subcommittee. Want to look for donations for solar lighting, Susan suggested
to add KFB to the contribution list on the website.
E. Committees:
**Business Beautification Award: Shear Pleasure was awarded the Business
Beautification Award for the quarter.
**KFB Mascot Recommendations: Mary stated that nothing has been done.
F. New Business: Loretta suggests adding banners to Renwick. Frank will get a quote
for repainting the sign.

4. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:08p.m.
