CALL TO ORDER THE MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE WAS CALLED TO ORDER ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 4 2022, AT 4:03 PM AT 910 S. FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM; CHAIR JENNIFER WHITLEY COMMITTEE MEMBER SUSAN ASIMAKIS COMMITTEE MEMBER BLAISE GUZETTA COMMITTEE MEMBER DEREK BROWN COMMITTEE MEMBER ANDREA TRABANINO COMMITTEE MEMBER JUDY WIGGINS COMMITTEE MEMBER PAULINE MOORE ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER STEVEN RHEA ABSENT: DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AUBREY HARBIN 2. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC None I Discussion and Possible Actions A. Discuss and take possible action in regard to the Community and Economic Development Committee Strategic Plan. Sally Branson announced that City Council approved the Strategic Plan. She said there were a few questions about the word "destination" however she did inform Council it was meant as a destination for Friendswood residents. Blaze Guzetta asked, "How to attract businesses in order to keep residents from traveling outside of town for shopping/eating?" Steven Rhea suggested the group organize the Mission Elements 1-7, 1 being the most important and moved forward from there. The Board members worked together and discussed in what order to arrange the Mission Elements. The Board asked Steven to compile a list of what types of businesses are currently in Friendswood. They stated the list would help determine what type of businesses are needed since too many of one type would not be ideal. Steven stated he could get a report of current businesses in the city. Board Members also discussed possible summit or meeting of minds where CEDC board would collaborate with members of Friendswood Downtown Economic Development Corporation (FDEDC), Keep Friendswood Beautiful (KFB), Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association (FDFA) and Chamber of Commerce to discuss how to get businesses to Friendswood. 4.
