1. Call to Order
MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
COMMITTEE THAT WAS HELD ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15, 2020, AT 03:33 PM AT 910 S.
FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT
CONSTITUTING A QUORUM:
VICE CHAIR JENNIFER WHITLEY
COMMITTEE MEMBER BLAISE GUZZETTA

COMMITTEE MEMBER MIKE HICKEY
COMMITTEE MEMBER PAULINE MOORE
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR KAREN CAPPS
CHAIR SKIP EVANS WAS ABSENT FROM THE MEETING.
ALSO PRESENT WAS AMBER PETREE, CFO FOR FRIENDSWOOD INDEPENDENT SCHOOL
DISTRICT.

3. Approval of Minutes
A. November 6, 2019
Mike Hickey moved to approve the November 6, 2019 meeting minutes. The motion was
seconded by Meg Crowley, and were unanimously approved.
4. Closed Executive Session
A. Convene into Executive Session:
Section 551.087: Deliberation regarding Economic Development Negotiations
At 3:40 p.m., the committee convened into closed executive session to review an application for
incentives.
5. Reconvene Into Open Session
At 4:08, the committee reconvened into open session.
6. Discussion and Possible Actions
A. Business Visits
The CEDC discussed business visits. The business visit with Alton Todd was full of history about
his business and office building. The lunch at La Escondida will be held on Friday, January 24 at
11:30 a.m. Karen Capps said there are many other restaurants to visit including Masa Sushi, Mod
Pizza, Gina's, Jersey Mike's Lowens Seafood, Chipotle Mexican Restaurant, Birraporettis, Eli's,
Perry's, FM 528 Asian Bistro, Pho Yen, and others. Karen will will work on other businesses to
visit.
B. Future Meeting Dates
The committee discussed whether to meet monthly and decided to continue meeting the first week
of the month unless there are no items to discuss. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday,
February 5 at 3:30 p.m.
7. Reports
Karen Capps reported on development projects planned or underway.
Amber Petree reported that the Citizen Advisory Committee recommended a $128,273,480 bond
with a May election that would improve five campuses within the district. If approved by voters,
would be a 19 cent tax increase.
8. Comments
Meg Crowley invited everyone to attend the Drinks, Drafts, and Downtowners event a Brasserie
1895 on Thursday, January 16 at 5 p.m.
