FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS 1. Call to order 2. Roll Call MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE THAT WAS HELD ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2019, AT 03:35 PM AT WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM: CHAIR SKIP EVANS VICE CHAIR JENNIFER WHITLEY COMMITTEE MEMBER MEG CROWLEY COMMITTEE MEMBER BLAISE GUZZETTA COMMITTEE MEMBER MIKE HICKEY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR KAREN CAPPS COMMITTEE MEMBER PAULINE MOORE AND TOM HINCKLEY WERE ABSENT FROM THE MEETING. ALSO PRESENT WERE COUNCILMEMBER BRENT ERENWERT, FRIENDSWOOD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PRESIDENT CAROL MARCANTEL, AND FISD DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS SERVICES LINDSEY FOLEY. 3. Communications from the Public None. 4. Consideration/approval of meeting minutes A. October 2, 2019 Motion to approve the October 2, 2019 meeting minutes by Blaise Guzzetta, second by Meg Crowley. All in favor, motion carried. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding A. Business Visits Committee members discussed their visit to Friendswood Hardware and future businesses to visit including one scheduled with Alton Todd. The next monthly CEDC luncheon will be at La Escondida on November 14. B. CEDC achievements and future objectives Chair Skip Evans stated that the CEDC has had plenty of success stories and accomplishments. The committee reviewed some of their accomplishments through the years which include the Vision 2020 study, establishing an incentives program, a process for reviewing incentive applications, hostingthe Broker/Developer Day, Live Here Work Here marketing program, the FM 528 Strategy, business visits, and sponsoring Party on the Patio held jointly with the Chamber. The committee will continue the business visits, Party on the Patio, and reviewing incentive applications. There will be no meeting in December. January's meeting will be held on January 15. 6. Staff Report Karen Capps reported on new development underway in the city. 7. Member comments Meg Crowley reported that the monthly "Drinks, Drafts, and Downtowners" will be held at Brasserie 1895 restaurant on Thursday, November 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. 8. Liaison reports Carol Marcantel reported that the Chamber will hold a luncheon honoring veterans at the Green Event Center tomorrow. Last month, the Chamber held three events including their golf tournament, Halloween in the Park, and Business Expo. There were 60 vendors and approximately 10,000 people that attended Halloween in the Park. Approximately 225 attendees were at the Business Expo. There were 26 new members that joined the Chamber last month. Lindsey Foley reported that FISD's Community Advisory Committee is analyzing and reviewing future needs for the district which include a $125 million proposed bond. Proposed items in the bond include relocating Cline Elementary as well as safety, security, and IT upgrades. Councilmember Brent Erenwert reported on the recent bond election and which ballot measures that passed. City Council will meet to canvass the election later this month 9.
