Home My WebLink AboutCEDC Minutes 2018-11-07 RegularCommunity and Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes November 7, 2018 The Friendswood Community and Economic Development Committee met on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 3:30 pm., in the second floor conference room of Friendswood City Hall, 910 South Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas, with the following members present: Vice Chair Meg Crowley, Blaise Guzzetta, Mike Hickey, Gary Kay, and Jennifer Whitley. Staff member present was Karen Capps. Absent were Skip Evans and Pauline Moore. 1. Call to Order. The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Meg Crowley at 3:34 p.m. 2. Roll call. Roll call was made with a quorum present. CLOSED EXECUTIVE SESSION At 3:35 p.m., the committee convened into closed executive session to review an application for economic development incentives. RECONVENE INTO OPEN SESSION At 5:08 p.m. the committee reconvened into open session. 3. Approval of Minutes Mike Hickey made a motion to approve the October 3, 2018 meeting minutes. Gary Kay seconded, all in favor, motion carried unanimously. The 161" annual Broker and Developer Day was discussed, Karen Capps reported there were 38 attendees, 52 who had registered, four people attended who had not rsvp'd. The chamber rescheduled their golf tournament to November 29 at Timber Creek Golf Club. Mike Hickey and Jennifer Whitley attended the event and reported that the content, attendance, and interaction was good. Carol Marcantel stated that participation at the golf tournament has decreased in recent years due to many other tournaments being held during the month of October. This item will be revisited in December when the CEDC Chair is present. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding: -Friendswood cares business visits The committee reported on two business visits that were conducted during the past month. 5. Staff report/comments Due to time, reports will be given at the December meeting. 6. Member comments Due to time, reports will be given at the December meeting. 7. Liaison reports Due to time, reports will be given at the December meeting. 8. Adjournment Next meeting on December 5 at 3:30 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 5:19 p.m.
