Home My WebLink AboutCEDC Minutes 2015-07-01 RegularFriendswood Community and Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes July 1, 2015 The Friendswood Community and Economic Development Committee met on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 8:30 a.m., in the second floor conference room of City Hall, 910 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas, with the following members present: Chair Pauline Moore, Vice Chair Tony Annan, Brett Banfield, Mark Conrad, Jeremy Magnuson, Marcus Perry, and Bill Provenzano. Liaisons present were Dan Seal - Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, and Bix Rathburn — President of the Galveston County Economic Alliance. Absent from the meeting was Skip Evans. Also present was Stephan Garcia of Community Impact Newspaper. Staff member present was Karen Capps. 1. Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 8:34 a.m. 2. Roll call was made. There was a quorum. 3. Approval of Minutes. Jeremy Magnuson made a motion to approve the June 1 and June 3, 2015 meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Bill Provenzano and passed unanimously in the committee. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding implementation of Economic Development Policy R2015-01. The committee would like to review the process on what information should be provided to City Council when there are downzoning requests, specifically how to provide more visibility on their position. 5. Reports: Staff Karen Capps reported on development projects planned or underway in the city. She also reported that, pending City Council's approval, Tony Annan may be appointed as a new P&Z Commissioner, which will require him to resign and therefore leave a vacancy to fill on the CEDC. She also reported that the Friendswood Chamber's Annual Golf Tournament will be held on October 27 which is the weekend prior to daylight savings time. It was discussed to have a brunch at 10:30. Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership Dan Seal reported that on June 8, Ellington Airport became the loth licensed spaceport in the country. BAHEP is hosting a legislative event on July 15 at South Shore Harbor. Galveston county Economic Alliance Bix Rathburn reported on the status of a countywide economic development plan for Galveston County. 6. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 9:20 a.m.
