HomeMy WebLinkAboutCEDC Minutes 2015-05-13 RegularFriendswood Community and Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes May 13, 2015 The Friendswood Community and Economic Development Committee met on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 8:30 a.m., in the second floor conference room of City Hall, 910 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas, with the following members present: Chair Pauline Moore, Brett Banfield, Skip Evans, Jeremy Magnuson, Marcus Perry, and Bill Provenzano. Liaisons present were Dan Seal - Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, Carol Marcantel - President of the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce, Planning and Zoning Commissioner David O'Farrell, and Bix Rathburn — President of the Galveston County Economic Alliance. Absent from the meeting were Tony Annan, Mark Conrad, and Dr. Hilmar Zeissig. Staff member present was Karen Capps. 1. Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 8:36 a.m. 2. Roll call was made. There was a quorum. 3. Approval of Minutes. Brett Banfield made a motion to approve the April 1, 2015 meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Jeremy Magnuson and passed unanimously in the committee. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding: Funding Request for Priority Projects The committee reviewed and edited draft funding proposal descriptions for the FM 528 Sanitary Sewer project and Downtown Project. The CEDC asked for a work session with City Council to discuss these funding proposals. The committee discussed the status of the Whitcomb tract rezoning request. It was reported that a process is now in place for the committee to provide a recommendation to Council. After discussion, Marcus Perry made a recommendation to concur with the Planning and Zoning Commission's negative recommendation. The motion was seconded by Brett Banfield and was carried 4-1 (Magnuson against). 5. Reports: Planning and Zoning David O'Farrell said that he has learned a lot from attending past CEDC meetings, appreciates the relationship with the committee, and looks forward to a collaborating with the committee in the future. Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership Dan Seal reported that BAHEP's Citizens for Space Exploration (CSE) trip to Washington, D.C. will take place next week and Councilmember Pat McGinnis will be attending. 6. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 10:06 a.m.
