HomeMy WebLinkAboutCEDC Minutes 2012-11-05 RegularFriendswood Community and Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes November 5, 2012 The Friendswood Community and Economic Development Committee met on Monday, November 5, 2012, at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 910 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas, with the following members present: Chair Skip Evans, Vice Chair Pauline Moore, Brett Banfield, Bill Provenzano, and Dr. Hilmar Zeissig. Also present were the following liaisons: Friendswood Chamber of Commerce President Carol Marcantel, Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership representative Dan Seal, Galveston County Economic Alliance President Don Gartman, and Planning and Zoning Commissioner Jim Gibson. Absent from the meeting were Tony Annan, Mark Conrad, and Jeremy Magnuson. Staff member present was Karen Capps. 1. Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 5:30 with a quorum present. 2. Roll Call. Roll call was made. 3. Discussion with City Council regarding the Community and Economic Development Committee's annual report and plans. A work session was held with City Council and the CEDC to discuss the committee's annual report and goals. Committee members reported their interest in encouraging economic development in commercial zoned areas of the city, i.e. the panhandle, downtown, West Ranch, but envision the FM 528 corridor as the greatest economic opportunity for retail and commercial businesses. Special financing districts, CIP water and sewer projects, and development reimbursement agreements were briefly discussed as ways to spur commercial development along FM 528 for areas that currently have no infrastructure. It was also discussed uniting City committees regarding the goals and vision for the city. 4. Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 6:32 p.m.
