Dan Johnson, Deputy Director of the Community Development Department, gave an overview of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and the purpose the Land Use Plan serves in a community. The last time Friendswood's Comprehensive Plan was updated was in 1998 prior to Vision 2020. The Land Use Plan brings together existing and future locations for major roads, community facilities, parks, utilities, drainage, and residential and commercial districts into a map that is used to guide how the city wants to develop in the next five to ten years. Dan showed maps of the existing Land Use Plan and the proposed plan for the city. He requested committee input regarding 13 properties proposed as future commercial as well as undeveloped land parcels that could potentially be developed as commercial in the future. The committee discussed plans for proposed thoroughfares, utilities, and development plans in the city. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The committee discussed tasking this work out to individual members to research the viability of each proposed parcel and report back to the committee at the next meeting. Chair Lippert stated that he would send members further instructions and information regarding the task of analyzing the commercial potential of each property. 5. Adiournment. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:46 a.m.
