Discussion/Approval of Minutes: July, 28 2020 Motion to approve the minutes made by Shawn Potter, seconded by Susan Stephens, and approved unanimously. I Communications/Guests: N/A 4. Volunteer Hours: Natasha reviews previous and upcoming volunteer opportunities. 5. Committee Reports **Executive Committee *Fall Haul/Fall Sweep: November 14th. City staff will be working Fall Haul, KFB will be doing a cleanup. *Home for the Holiday's Lighted Christmas Trail: The lighted Christmas trail is sponsored by Hometown Bank. Scenes will be placed throughout the park and there will be over 100,000 lights. Other features will include a Christmas tree in the gazebo, hot chocolate/snack vendors, and a multitude of photo opportunities for families. The trail will be lit every night through November 27 - January 1. Parks will be installing a mailbox by the Christmas tree, children will put "letters to Santa" in mailbox, and KFB might be needed to write them back. *City Hall Tree Decorating: We will be decorating City Hall in-house. KFB will not be needed. KFB can assist with decorating the fairy trail houses. *Keep Texas Beautiful/MichaelFernandez: No new updates. KTB has resources that might be useful for homeschooling parents. *Public Awareness/Brandee Fernandez Social Media Updates: Up to 3300 likes on the most recent posts (Sunmeadow HOA and Find Figgy Scavenger Hunt). *Business Holiday Decorating Contest: KFB will be spotlighting businesses for outstanding holiday decorations. *Halloween Scavenger Hunt: The Scavenger Hunt was created in conjunction with the cities GIS software. There was a lot of positive feedback; multiple sponsors donated and participated in the scavenger hunt. *Fairy Trail Updates/Shawn Potter: The fairy trail is still trekking. 28,000 views on the website so far. There has been 8,000 views on the Google maps site since October 7. The houses are being updated; we are still learning what materials work/weather best. Parks is working on the sidewalk. The topiaries will be installed after Thanksgiving. Soon the fall leaves will be taken down, and Christmas decorations will be installed on the fairy door and houses. *Education/Sherry Goen 2020 Training Updates: KTB is doing a waste and place virtual training. *Birding Video: Patty states that the birding video was finalized this morning. The video will be posted on the website. Patty sent list to Natasha of birds (potential interactive activity for kids). *Beautification/Kaye Corey Pollinator Garden Update: Jorge will be starting pollinator garden video soon. We will be ordering signs soon to place in the pollinator garden that say "Gone Seeding..." We are entering the season where the garden will not look pristine; primary concern will be open ground for insects to hibernate. KFB and city staff will be seeding bluebonnets and other plants in December. City staff packaged over 1,000 bluebonnets seed packages. We have put educational flyers and bat info crossword puzzle in the box near garden. Parks will be anchoring a new focal point (copper hose box) in the garden. There will be lighted arches and butterflies to compliment the Christmas fairy trail. A check was presented to Wedgewood Village to cover their signs/landscaping for the matching grant. A check was also presented to Sunmeadow HOA yesterday. *Business Beautification Awards -Michael Fernandez: The 4th quarter Business Beautification Award will be presented to JJ's Carwash. Ideas for the next quarter are discussed. *2021 Tree Giveaway Planning -Todd: Todd relays the different options for the stock at the Tree Giveaway. The majority will be live oak, lacebark elm, and water oak. The event will be a drive through process. We will be purchasing 15 gallon trees for 15 dollars. There will be 150 trees total. We are working on building a map to track the trees throughout the city. The Tree Giveaway will be January 16th Shawn makes motion to approve 150 trees, Stefanie seconds, and the motion is unanimously approved. The event will be held at Centennial Park starting at 8 a.m. Parks/FDEDC Report/Paul Marx: Parks staff is recognized for the new programs that have been implemented in the midst of COVID-19. City staff met with engineering firm to update parks master plan; we're looking into adding all of the parks to the creek system. Recycling Trends/Updates Softball Fields Pilot Recycle Program Update: Alexandria cleans out recycle bins weekly. She asked for signage, which she received. She asked for a regular hose to clean out recycling that she will store. Natasha spoke with her mom about making tik tok video about what can and can't be recycled. She wants to know how she can help, they are keeping track of bottles, cans, each, etc. 6. Median Maintenance Updates (FM 518) The medians are under warranty until August 21. 7. New Business: No new business. 8. Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 7:18PM. Next Meeting: Executive meeting scheduled for next month.
