FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, FRIENDSWOOD CITY HALL, 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM. JAMES PRICE, POLICE DEPARTMENT JAMES TONEY, PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR KIMBERLY RAMIREZ, ASSISTANT TO THE DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION MICHAEL BOYETT, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION GARY WILLIAMS, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION CATHERINE WOOD, RECREATION MANAGER GARRETT NORMOYLE, RECREATION SPECIALIST MEGAN DONELSON, RECREATION ASSISTANT DIANE HASS, CHAMBER LIAISON DARLA HANKINS, FISD TRANSPORTATION 1. Call to Order Chairperson McDonald called the meeting to order at 6:OOPM. 2. Communications from the Public Diane Hass from the Chamber of Commerce is in attendance. She informs the committee that the raffle for the truck will be held at the Chamber on Monday. She goes on to say that Chamber staff will be walking in the parade, and also through the park during the day program selling raffle tickets. Darla from FISD transportation is also in attendance. She updates the committee with final numbers on the bus count. The final numbers are as follows; 20 regular busses and 1 handicap bus. The shuttle busses will still be sanitized for the evening program. City staff will make arrangements to pick up masks for bus riders by the 2nd 3. Minutes A. Consider approving the minutes of the Fourth of July Steering Committee meeting held on May 19, 2021. Committee member Chris makes a motion to approve the minutes with the amendment of the removal of Larry Sims. The motion is seconded by Barbara, and approved unanimously. 4. Discuss and take possible action regarding tasks, duties, schedules, and/or assignments related to the Fourth of July event and program to include, but not limited to: A. Breakfast; The committee discusses logistics regarding the breakfast, which will be sponsored by Whataburger and Chick Fil A. Officer Price will pick up breakfast for the PD staff. Committee members will eat at 7AM sharp on Monday morning. B. Parade; Tommy shares details of the parade and the placement process with the committee. There are currently 71 parade entries. The entries containing horses will stage at Captain's Corner, and the streets will be lined on Saturday night. C. Day Program; Michelle and Kimberly explain the logistics of multiple plans for the day program pending weather conditions. 40 applications were submitted and approved. City staff is coordinating with vendors on Yard Art, balloon arches, and other elements to be displayed in the park. Kimberly displays and breaks down the timeline for the day program. The committee is to wear t-shirts for the daytime festivities. D. Evening Program. James, Kimberly, and Rufino relay details of the evening program as well as the layout of the park to the committee members. Committee members wanting to drive Gators will need to meet at City Hall at 5PM sharp; other committee members will need to meet at Centennial Park at 6:OOPM. Sponsorship from HEB in the amount of $5,000 for an additional video wall was confirmed, and the program is being created to showcase the local astronauts and city departments. Approximately 50 VIP parking passes are being sent to vendors, city staff, and other officials for exclusive parking. Volunteers and committee members will also be needed for directing traffic, getting VIP person(s) to the right places, etc. All committee members will need to wear their white polo for the evening festivities. 5. Adjournment A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Michelle, seconded by Barbara, and approved unanimously.
