A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, ASSIGNING TO THE CITY
MANAGER THE AUTHORITY TO SUPERVISE THE CITY
SECRETARY.
WHEREAS, the City Charter provides that the City Council shall appoint a City Secretary
who shall hold office at the pleasure of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Charter further provides that the City Manager shall be responsible
to the Council for the proper administration of all the affairs of the City and to that end shall have
the power and be required to perform such duties as may be prescribed by this Charter or required
by him by the Council, as consistent with this Charter; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it is consistent with the Charter and also beneficial to
the City for the day-to-day supervision of the City Secretary be assigned to the City Manager, who
shall have the power and be required to perform such duties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRI[ENDSWOOD, TEXAS:
Section 1. That pursuant to Section 4.01 (d) (7) of the City Charter, the City Council
of the City of Friendswood, Texas, assigns to the City Manager the day-to-day supervision of the
City Secretary.
Section 2. That the City Manager shall have the power and be required to -perform the
duties associated with the day-to-day supervision of the City Secretary.
Section 3. That the City Council retains the responsibility to appoint and remove the
City Secretary pursuant to the City Charter.
Section 4. That the City Council shall evaluate the performance of the City Secretary,
with input from the City Manager.
Section 5. That this resolution shall take effect March 20, 2021.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND RESOLVED, this the 1st day of February, 2021.
