AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE
RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A
NOVEMBER 03, 20209 CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD
SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE REAUTHORIZATION
OF THE LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX IN THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS AT THE RATE OF THREE-
EIGHTHS (3/8) OF ONE PERCENT (1%) TO CONTINUE
PROVIDING REVENUE FOR MAINTENANCE AND
REPAIR OF MUNICIPAL STREETS; PROVIDING FOR
THE NUMBER OF VOTES BY WHICH THE
PROPOSITION WAS APPROVED AND DIRECTING THE
CITY SECRETARY TO SEND A CERTIFIED COPY OF
THIS ORDINANCE AND A MAP SHOWING THE CITY'S
BOUNDARIES TO THE TEXAS STATE COMPTROLLER
OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS.
WHEREAS, this City Council ordered an election to be held in said City on November 3,
2020, on Proposition A hereinafter stated; and
WHEREAS, said City Council has investigated all matters pertaining to said election,
including the ordering, giving notice, appointing election officers, holding and making returns of
said election; and
WHEREAS,the election officers who held said election have duly made the returns of the
result thereof, and said returns have been duly delivered to said City Council; and
WHEREAS, it is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this
Ordinance was adopted was open to the public, and public notice of the time, place and purpose
of said meeting was given, all as required by Chapter 551, Texas Government Code.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE C:'ITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council officially finds and determines that said election was duly
ordered, that proper notice of said election was duly given, that proper election officers were duly
appointed prior to said election, that said election was duly held, that the City has complied with
the Federal Voting Rights Act and the Texas Election Code, that due returns of the result of said
election have been made and delivered, and that the City Council has duly canvassed said returns,
all in accordance with law and the Ordinance calling said election.
Section 2. That the City Council officially finds and determines that the following votes
were cast at said election, on the submitted Proposition A by the residents, qualified electors of
said City, who voted at the election:

FOR THE REAUTHORIZATION OF THE LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX

IN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,, TEXAS AT THE RATE OF
AGAINST THREE-EIGHTHS (3/8) OF ONE PERCENT (1%) TO CONTINUE
6,547
PROVIDING REVENUE FOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF
MUNICIPAL STREETS. THE TAX EXPIRES ON THE FOURTH
ANNIVERSARY OF THE DATE OF THIS ELECTION UNLESS THE
IMPOSITION OF THE TAX IS REAUTHORIZED.
Section 3. That the City Council officially finds, determines and declares the result of said
election to be that the aforesaid Proposition A has received the votes shown above, and that the
Proposition shown above as receiving a majority of votes in favor thereof,being Proposition A has
therefore passed and approved by a margin of 8,071 votes.
Section 4. That the City Council finds and determines that the reauthorization of the sales
and use tax proposition carried at the election,and that the City Council is accordingly reauthorized
to continue to levy the sales and use tax in accordance with the authority granted in this proposition
and with the law.
Section 5. That the City Secretary is authorized and directed to send to the Texas State
Comptroller of Public Accounts by United States certified or registered mail, a certified copy of
Ord No 2020-46 2
this Ordinance, along with a map of the City, clearly showing the boundaries of the City, as
required by Section 321.405 of the Texas Tax Code.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 17th day of November,2020.
