R20-85 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A TAX EXEMPTION BASED ON A PERCENTAGE OF THE MARRET VALUE OF RESIDENCE HOME- STEADS WITHIN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING A TAX EXEMPTION OF TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($10,000.00)OF THE ASSESSED VALUE OF RESIDENCE HOME- STEADS WITHIN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, FOR PERSONS SIXTY-FIV E (65) YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AND ESTABLISHING A TAX EXEMPTION OF FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($15,000.00) FOR THO5E PERSONS DISABLED; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT. * * * * BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, does hereby exempt from City ad valorem taxation, the maximum as permitted by law, of the market value of the residence homestead of each married and unmarried adult responsible for the payment of such City taxes, including an adult living alone, but in no event shall the amount of such exemption be less than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) . Section 2. The City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, does hereby exempt ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) of the assessed value of residence homesteads within the City for married or unmarried persons sixty-five (65) years of age or older, including those living alone, from all ad valorem taxes thereafter levied by the City. Section 3. The City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, does hereby exempt fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) for those persons who are disabled who are married or unmarried persons, including those living alone, from all ad valorem taxes thereafter levied by the City. Section 4. Each person desiring such exemption or exemptions shall file an application with the Chief Appraiser of the Galveston County Appraisal to qualify for said exemptions, said application to be in such form and filed at such time as shall be required by law. Section 5. The grant of these exemptions shall be in addition to any other exemption for which the recipient shall be qualified under the law. PASSED AND APPRCIVED THIS 7TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 1985.
