A RESOLUTION SUSPENDING THE PROPOSED IMPLEMENTATION B�' HOUSTON
LIGHTING & POWER COMPANY OF REVISED RATES TO BE CHARGED IN THE
CITY OF FRIENDS[nK)OD , TEXAS. -
RESOLUTION No. 86-5
WHEREAS, on March 18, 1986, Houston Lighting & Power
Company ("the Company") filed a Statement of Intent to change its �
rates for electric service within the City of F�I�S4VOOD and
has requested that said changes become effective og April 23,
1986; and �
WHEREAS, the Company has filed revised Tariff Schedules
together with statements specifying in detail each proposed
change, a rate filing package, and supporting testimony; and
WHEREAS, Section 17 (a) of the Public Utility Regulatory
Act, Article 1446c, Texas Revised Civil Statutes, gives the �
governing body of each municipality exclusive original
jurisc�iction over electric rates within its municipal boundaries;
and
WHEREAS, Section 43 (d) of the Public Utility Regulatory Act
authorizes the governing body of any municipality acting as a
� Regulatory Authority to suspend the operation of any proposed
change in rates for a period not to exceed ninety (90) days beyond
the date on which the scheduled rates would otherwise go into
effect; and
WHEREAS, the Company's proposed electric rate changes and
the detailed material supporting those changes require
coinprehensive evaluation and study;
NOW, THEREFORE,
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
FRIENDSWOOD , Texas: That the change in rates for
electric service within the City of FRI�VDSWOOD proposed by
Houston Lighting & Power Company to become effective on April 23,
1986, should be, and are hereby, suspended for a period of ninety
(90) days beyond said proposed effective date, until July 22,
1986.
