R92-34 A RES()LUTION SUFPQRTING AN AMSNL�l�'�' TQ T� FAMILY CC)DE OF THE STATS OF 7�XAS WHICH CLEARLY P}3RMITS TSB SHARING OF INFORL�IATION BY POLICY WITfi SCgOQL OFFICIALS IN SUPPOI,tT OF ANTI DRUG AND ALCOHC}L PROGRAMS. W'�RTAS, the City of Friendswood knows and has experienced the pain and death that comes with the use of alcohol and drugs by its underage citizens; and WHER]�PiS, the City has adopted a Zero Tolerance Policy as part of its effort to use all reasonable means to educate and prevent young people frQm making illegal use of alcohol and drugs; and WHF.RRAS� the City and the Friendswaod Independent School District are full partners in this effart; NOW, T�REFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City supports an amendment tea the Family Code of the State af Texas which clearly permits the sharing of information by police with school officials in support of anti drug and alcohol programs; and FURZ�'R BE IT RESOLVED, the City Manager is directed ta work with the legislators serving the City to seek such an an amendment; and FURTI�R B$ IT R�LVSD, the City asks the Texas Municipal League to suppart the amendment in furtherance of anti drug and alcohol programming aeross the state.
