A RESOLUTION OF TFIB CITY OF FRIENDSWOQD, T��XAS
SUPPORTING PROPOSED CHANGE FOR APPQIN�ffi�ITS
Z+p THE GAI,Vg,STON CENTRAL APPRAISAI� DISTRIGT
BOARD �F DIRE�CTORS.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directars of the Galveston
Central Appraisal district serve two-year terms beginning
on January 1 of even-numbered years; and.
WHEREAS, members af the Galveston Appraisal District
Board of Directars are appointed by vote of the governing
bodies of the county, cities, school districts, and certain
conservation and reclamation districts that participate in
the Galveston Central Appraisal District; and
WHLREAS, the voting entitlement of a taxing unit that
is entitled to vote for directors is determined b� dividing
the total dollar amount of pragerty taxes imposed in the
district by the taxing unit for the preceding tax year by
the sum of the total dollar amount of property taxes
imposed in the district for the year by each taxing unit
that is entitled to vote, by multiplying the quatient by
1,000, and by rounding the product ta the nearest whole
number and that number is multiplied by the number of
directorships to be filled; and
WHE�tEAS, the Board of Directors of an Appraisal
District, by resolution adopted by August 15 of an� year,
may change the method or procedure for appointi.ng the
members of the Board of Directars, grovided the governing
bodies of three-faurths of the taxing units entitled to
vote on the appaintment of the Board of Directars adapt
said resolution� and
W�HEREAS, the 72nd Legislature agproved an amendment ta
Section 6. Q3(a) of the Property Tax Cade of Texas which
require members of the Galveston caunty Appraisa� District
Board of Directors to be chosen fram elected officials, and.
this provisian does not apply to any other Appraisal Board;

THE CITY OF FRIffi�TDSWOOD, TBXAS:
THAT the Friendswood City Council supports the propased
changes in the present allocation of votes ta allow for the
appointment of one member by each category of taxing units
entitled to vote and two at-large appointments by all
taxing units entitled to vote, to-wit:
Position 1: Cities
Position 2: School Districts and Colleges
Position 3: County & Other T�ing Units.
(Water Districts, etc. }
Position 4: Combined Vote At Large Member
Position 5: Combined Vote At Large Member; and
THAT the Friendswood City Council supports the
appointment of two members in even years and three members
in odd �ears; and
THAT the Friendswood City Council supports the proposed
amendment of the Property T� Code of ' Texas to include °
college districts with the school districts as outlined
above in the Position 2 Category.
