A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, FOR LEGI5LATION
INCREASING MAXIMUM PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF PROVISIONS
OF THE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CODE RELATING TO SALES OF
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES TO INTOXICATED PERSONS OR MINORS.

WHEREAS, alcohol abuse increases incidents of family
disturbance, criminal conduct and mischief, and juvenile
delinquency; and
WHEREAS, alcohol abuse is a leading cause in vehicle related
deaths and injuries; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas,
believes that increasing penalties for violations of Alcoholic
Beverage Code provisions relating to sales of alcaholic beverages
to minors and intoxicated persons would result in fewer violations
and would reduce alcohol abuse; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCTL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXA5:
Section l. The facts and matters set forth in the preamble
of this Resolution are hereby found to be true and correct.
Section 2, The City Council of the City of Friendswood,
Texas, urges the Legislature of the State of Texas to adopt
legislation which would increase penalties to owners and employees
of businesses who sell alcoholic beverages to minors and
intoxicated persons in violation of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage
Code, in particular, Sections 101. 63 and 106. 03 thereof.
Section 3 . The City Secretary is hereby authorized and
directed to cause a true and correct copy of this Resolution to be
delivered to the City' s legislative delegation and to the
Resolutions Committee of the Texas Municipal League.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND RESOLVED this 4th day of
January, 1993.
