A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS,
EXPRESSING THE INTENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD A
SPECIAL ELECTION ON JANUARY 21, 1995, FOR THE PURPOSE
OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY
SEPARATE PROPOSITIONS REGARDING THE ENACTMENT OF A
ONE-HALF PERCENT SALES AND USE TAX FOR AMATEUR SPORTS
FACILITIES, PARK IMPROVEMENTS AND PUBLIC FACILITIES
PURSUANT TO SECTION 4B OF ARTICLE 5190.6, TEXAS
REVISED CIVIL STATUTES, AND ENACTMENT OF A SALES AND
USE TAX TO REDUCE THE PROPERTY TAX RATE PURSUANT TO
SECTION 321. 101 (b) OF TEXAS TAX CODE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITX COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXAS.

Section 1 . In accordance with the Constitution and
general Laws of the State of Texas, it is the intent of the
City Council of the City of Friendswood, to ca11 and order a
Special Municipai Election to be held the third Saturday in
January, �995, the same being the 21st day of said month, at
which election all qualified voters of the City may vote for
the purpose of determining the following propositions:
I. Enactment of a one-half percent sales and use tax for
amateur sports facilities (Sports Complex) , park and
recreation improvements and public facilities under
Section 4B of Article 5190.6, Texas Revised Civii Statutes.
2. Enactment of a sales and use tax to reduce the property
tax pursuant to Section 321 . 101 (b) of Texas Tax Code.
Section 2. The City Council hereby finds and determines
that the holding of the Special Municipal Election described
in Section 1 .1 hereof is necessary to fund and construct a
Sports Complex for the youth and adults of the City of
Friendswood, Texas.
Section 3. The City Council hereby finds and determines
that the holding of the Special Municipal Election described
in Section 1 .2 hereof is necessary to reduce the property tax
rate of the citizens of Friendswood, Texas.
PASSED, APPROVED AND RESOLVED THIS 12TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1994.
