HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2018-22 RESOLUTION NO.R2018-22 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, TO CERTIFY LOCAL SUPPORT OF THE FRIENDSWOOD LAKES BOULEVARD PROJECT APPLICATION FOR FUNDING UNDER THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL FY 2019 - FY 2028 TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM CALL FOR PROJECTS. * * * * * * * * * WHEREAS, the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is seeking proposals from local governments and other eligible project sponsors to implement transportation projects which advance the vision and goals of the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan; and WHEREAS, the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Call for Projects will commit federal and state funds allocated to the Houston region to implement roadway, transit, pedestrian/bicycle, livable centers, and air quality projects within the next 10 years; and WHEREAS,the Friendswood Lakes Boulevard project is to construct a four-lane concrete curb and gutter boulevard section and associated underground storm sewer system from F.M. 528 to the Friendswood/Pearland city limits to provide connection and improve accessibility and mobility of people and goods to regional thoroughfares and serve as an added emergency evacuation route; and WHEREAS, the City proposes to submit an application requesting funding for the Friendswood Lakes Boulevard project estimated to cost$14 million;and, WHEREAS, most of the funding sources available through the TIP Call for Projects require a 20%local funding match,and the City has allocated and will provide the minimum match requirement of$2,800,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,TEXAS,THAT: Section 1. The City of Friendswood supports funding this project as shown in the application budget and commits to the project's development, implementation, construction, maintenance,management and financing. Section 2. The City adopts this resolution approving the submission of the project application,as well as the support and funding of the project should it receive federal funds. Section 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to act on behalf of the City in all matters relating to this funding application and to execute all necessary applications, assurances, certifications,and other documents,relative to the submission,later acceptance,and administration of such funds. Section 4. It is hereby officially found and determined that this meeting at which this resolution is passed is open to the public as required by law, and that public notice of the time, place and purpose of said meeting was given as required.
