A RESOLUTION OF �'EIE eITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS,
�XPRESSING STRONG OPPOSITION TO GASINO GAMBLING
IN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD.

Wf�REAS, in most instances of Casino gambling is a 24 hour a day operation
which may lead to increased traffic, crime and lowered quality of life in
the community; and
WI�REAS, legislation has been proposed and expected to be re-introduced to
the Texas legislature, for the adoption of casina gambling within the state;
and
WHRRF.AG� the Clear Lake Area, including the City of Friendswood, is
�eographically attractive for such establishments; and
WHF.RF.AS� the Friendswood City Council for the citizens of Friendswood are
opposed to such establishments within the city limits as well as within the
proximity of our city;
NOW, Tf�RF�bRE, BS IT RESOLVED BY Tf� CITY COUNCIL OF Tf� CITY OF
FRIENDS�i00D, TEXAS;
THAT, the City Council representing the citizens of Friendswood, Texas is
s�trongly opposed to the casino gambling within the City of Friendswood; and
THAT, the City Council encourages surrounding cities in the Clear Lake
Area as well as the Houston-Galveston Area Council to adopt similar
resolutions expressing strong oppositions to casino gambling; and
THAT, should any such gambling legislation be passed by the Texas
Legislature and before any such establishments are approved or permitted
within the city limits of Friendswood, the City Council hereby supports the
calling of a election to place the final decision before the Citizens of
Friendswood giving the Citizens the opportunity to vote whether to approve
or disapprove casino gambling within the city limits.
