Ft97-13 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 3, 1997, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A COUNCILMEMBER, TO FILL AN UNEXPIlZED TERM ENDING MAY 1998, TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD. * * � * * WHEREAS, a special election was held in the City of Friendswood, Texas, on May 3, 1997, for the purpose of electing a Councilmember to fill an unexpired term ending May 1998; and WHEREAS, said election was duly and legally held in confornuty with the election laws of the State of Texas, and the results of said election have been verified and returned by the proper judges and clerks; and WHEREAS, it appears that a total of 3716 votes were cast in such special election; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: Section 1. The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this Resolution are hereby found to be true and correct. Section 2. The official canvass of the returns of the special election held on May 3, 1997, reflects that the following named persons received the number of votes set opposite their names for the position to be filled: F W D1'97 S P CAN VAS.RE S�050597 �., -� Councilmember, Position 6 Candidate Votes Received Sherie Warminski 1559 Ricki "Doc" Morse 219 Mel P. Measeles 1734 Section 3. The official canvass of the returns of the special election held on May 3, 1997, reflects that in the race for Councilman - Position No. 6, no candidate received a majority vote, and that the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for such position are Sherie Wanninski and Mel P.
