R99-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, ENDORSING A CONCEPTUAL ALIGNMENT OF PEARLAND PARKWAY/BRITTANY BAY BOULEVARD FOR A REGIONAL ROADWAY, FOR THE CITIES OF FRIENDSWOOD, LEAGUE CITY, PEARLAND AND THE COUN'PIES OF GALVESTON AND BRAZORIA AND THE BAY AREA TRANSPORTATION PARTNERSHIP. * * * * * * * * * * * * On this 13th day of September, 1999 the City of Friendswood, convened in a regularly scheduled meeting when the following proceedings, among others, were had, to-wit: � WHEREAS, Texas Department of Transportation and the Transportation Policy Council have been preparing for the 2000-2005 Transportation Improvement Program and; WIiEREAS, the 2000-2005 Transportation Improvement Program will include certain funds for preliminary engineering/environmental assessment for worthwhile projects and; WHEREAS, the cities of Friendswood, League City, Pearland and the counties of Galveston and Brazoria along with the Bay Area Transportation Partnership are experiencing unprecedented growth in the corridor along along F.M. 518 and; WHEREAS, the cities of Friendswood, League City, Pearland and the counties of Galveston and Brazoria along with the Bay Area Transportation Partnership have been collaborating to prepare a conceptual alignment for a regional roadway known as Pearland Parkway/Brittany Bay Boulevard as shown on map dated 1999 and prepared by City of League City, Department of Engineering GIS Division. WHEREAS, it is the desire of Friendswood, League City, Pearland and the counties of Galveston and Brazoria along with the Bay Area Transportation Partnership to plan for this growth and address their transportation needs by preserving the Pearland Parkway/Brittany Bay Boulevard corridor and eventually constructing a roadway facility and; WHEREAS, limited portions of Pearland Parkway/Brittany Bay Boulevard have already been constructed; R99.27/LST03 . • ,.... ...... , � � BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: Section 1. The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this Resolution are hereby found to be true and correct. Section 2 . The City of Friendswood, Texas, endorses the conceptual alignment of Pearland Parkway/Brittany Bay Boulevard and request the Texas Department of Transportation and the Transportation Policy Council to make an estimate of non-federal costs for the preliminary engineering/ environmental assessment in order that the local entities may consider the possibility of submission of this project as a candidate for funding in FY 2001. Section 3 . The City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause a certified copy of this Resolution to be served on all appropriate government officials of the relevant political subdivisions described herein.
