AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS,
ORDINANCE N0. 87-6, PASSED AND APPROVED THE 6TH DAY OF
APRIL, 1987, AND BEING AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING RULES AND
REGULATIONS GOVERNING ELECTRICIANS AND ELECTRICAL WORK
IN THE CITY, BY STRIKING ALL OF SECTION 3. 01 THEREOF
AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR A NEW SECTION 3. 01 , BY
STRIKING THE SECOND SENTENCE OF SECTION 12. 01 THEREOF
AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR A NEW SECOND SENTENCE, AND
BY STRIKING ARTICLE XIII IN ITS ENTIRFTY AND
SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR A NEW ARTICLE XIII; PROVIDING
THAT THE ELECTRICAL BOARD SHALL CONSIST OF SEVEN
MEMBERS PLUS THE CITY ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR AS AN
AD HOC MEMBER; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE 1990
EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE AS PUBLISHED
BY THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION; PROVIDING
A PENALTY OF NOT MORE THAN $2,000 FOR EACH DAY OF
VIOLATION OF ANY PROVISION OF SAID ORDINANCE N0. 87-6,
AS AMENDED; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
STATE OF TEXAS :
Section 1. City of Friendswood Ordinance No. 87-6, passed
and approved April 6, 1987, and being an ordinance providing
rules and regulations governing electric�ans and electrical
wor'x. in the City, is hereby amended by striking all of Section
3. 01 , which provides as follows :
[Section 3. 01 . Creation and Membership of
Board. There is hereby created a Board for the
regu�ation and examination of electricians within the
City of Friendswood, to be known as the "Electrical
Board. " Said Board shall consist of five members .
One member or more shall be a master electrician of
the City of Friendswood ; two members shall be
residents of Friendswood, one member shall be from the
local Electrical Power Company. The City Attorney of
the City of Friendswood shall be the Board' s legal
consultant. The Chief Electrical Inspector shall be
an ad hoc non-voting member. Three of the Board shall
constitute a quorum. A member of the City Council
shall act as liaison between the Board and th�

Section 2. Said City of Friendswood Ordinance No. 87-6 is
hereby further amended by striking therefrom the second
sentence of Section 12. 01 , which provides as follows :
[Any and all electrical work for light, heat, power or
other purpose placed in �r on any building or
structure in the city limits of the City of
Friendswood shall be installed in conformity with the
rules and regulations as laid down in the 1987
National Electrical Code, a copy of which is attached
hereto as Exhibit "A" and in conformity with the
additional rules and regulations as set forth in this
ordinance and the Statutes of the State of Texas. ]
and substituting therefor a new second sentence to provide as
follows :
Any and all electrical work for light, heat, power or

Section 3. Said City of Friendswood Ordinance No. 87-6 is
hereby further amended by striking therefrom all of Article
XIII which provides as follows :
[Any person violating any provision of this
ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdeameanor,
and, upon conviction, shall be fined in an amount not
to exceed $200. 00 for each violation. Each and every
day of violation shall constitute a separate offense. ]
and substituting therefor a new Article XIII to provide as
follows :

Section 4. In the event any section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause, phrase, provision, sentence, or part of
this Ordinance or the application of the same to any person or
circumstance shall for any reason be adjudged invalid or held
unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall
not affect, impair, or invalidate this Ordinance as a whole or
any part or provision hereof other than the part declared to be
invalid or unconstitutional ; and the City Council of the City
of Friendswood, Texas , declares that it would have passed each
and every part of the same notwithstanding the omission of any
such part thus declared to be invalid or unconstitutional , or
whether there be one or more parts.
