HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 87-02 ORDINANCE N0. 87-2 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE LIFE SAFETY CODE, 1985 EDITION, AS PUBLISHED BY THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION, INC. ; PROVIDING RULES AND REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES TO MAXIMIZE SAFETY FROM FIRE; PROVIDING FOR ADMINISTRATION; PROVIDING FOR CLASSIFICATION OF OCCUPANCY AND HAZARD OF CONTENTS; PROVIDING FOR FIRE PROTECTION MEASURES ; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING A PENALTY OF AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1000.00 FOR EACH DAY OF VIOLATION OF ANY PROVISION HEREOF; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT OR IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. s'c 4c k �sY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS : Section 1. . The 1985 Edition of the Life Safety Coc3e, including all appendices , as published by the National Fire Protection Association, Inc . , a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof for all purposes , an authentic copy of which has been filed with the City Secretary, is hereby adopted. Section 2. Penalty. Any person violating any provision of this Ordinance shall be deemed quilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in an amount not to exceed $1 ,000. Each day of violation shall constitute a separate o£fense. Section 3. In the event any section, paragraph, subdiv�.sion, clause, phrase, provision, sentence, or part of this Ordinance or the applicat�on of the same to any person or circumstance shall for any reason be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect , impair, or invalidate this Ordinance as a whole or any part or provision hereof other than the part declared to be invalid or unconstitutional ; and the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas , declares that it would have passed each and every part of the same notwithstanding the omission of any such part thus declared to be invalid or unconstitutional , or whether there be one or more parts . Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent or in conflict herewith are, to the extent of such inconsistency or conflict , hereby repealed .
