AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE STANDARD BUILDING CODE, 1985
EDITION, INCLUDING APPENDICES, AS PUBLISHED BY THE
SOUTHERN BUILDING CODE CONGRESS INTERNATIONAL, INC. ;
ESTABLISHING RULES AND REGULATIONS TO IMPROVE PUBLIC
SAFETY BY REGULATING THE EXECUTION, CONSTRUCTION,
ENLARGEMENT, ALTERATION, REPAIR, REMOVAL, CONVERSION,
DEMOLITION, OCCUPANCY, EQUIPMENT, USE, HEIGHT, AREA,
AND MAINTENANCE OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE
CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF
PERMITS ; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF ANY
PROVISION HEREOF IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,000.00
FOR EACH DAY OF ANY SUCH VIOLATION; REPEALING ALL OTHER
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT OR IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
STATE OF TEXAS :
Section l . The 1985 Edition of the Standard Buildin� Code,
including all appendices , as published by the Southern Building
Code Congress International, Inc . , a copy of which is att�ched
hereto and made a part hereof for all purposes , an authentic
copy of which has been filed with the City Secretary, is hereby
adopted and made a part of this Ordinance.
Section 2. Penalty. Any person, firm, corporation or
agent who shall violate or cause to be violated any pr.ovision
of this Ordinacne, or who shall fail to comply herewith, or
with any of the requirements hereof, or who shall erect, con-
struct, alter, demolish or move any structure, or who shall
have erected, canstructed, altered, repaired, moved or demol-
ished a building or structure in v�.olation of a detailed
statement or drawing; submitted and approved hereunder shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof,
sha11 be fined in an amount not to exceed $1 ,000.00. Each such
person, firm, corporation or agent shall be deemed guilty of a
separate offense for each day during which any violation of any
of the provisions of this Ordinance is committed or continued.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances incon-
sistent or in conflict herewith are, to the extent of any such
inconsistency or conflict, hereby repealed.
Section 4. In the event any section, paragraph, subdivi-
sion, clause, phrase, provision, sentence, or part of this
Ordinance or the application of the same to any person or
circumstance shall for any reason be adjudged invalid or held
unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall
not affect, impair, or invalidate this Ordinance as a whole or
any part or provision hereof other than the part declared to be
invalid or unconstitutional ; and the City Council of the City
of Fri.endswood, Texas , declares that it would have passed each
and every part of the same notwithstandi.ng the omission of any
such part thus declared to be invalid or unconstitutional , or
whether there be one or more par.ts .
