HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 82-24 RESOLUTION N0. �Q_ ,��-�,Z A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIF.i�TDSi�V00D , TEXAS, TO ADOPT A RATE ORDER REQUIRING CERTAIN RATE TARIFFS TO BE FILED WITH THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, BY HOUSTON LIGHTING AND POWER COMPANY TO SET RATES WHICH SAID CO�iPANY wILL CHARGE ITS CUSTOMERS FOR THE SALE OF ELECTRIC POtidER AND ENERGY WITHIN THE CITY OF FRIENDSII�OOD, TEXAS. * s� * * * WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, has conducted a public hearing regarding a rate increase proposed by Houston Lighting and Power Company; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, having considered all the ei�idence and testimony tendered in such hearing , finds and determines that a rate increase should be granted for said Company; and, WHEREAS, � §3. 11 and 9. 09 of the City Charter of the City of Friendswood mandate that any action by the City Council of the City of Friendswood fixing or affecting utility rates shall be approved only by ordinance passed following three ( 3) readings at regular Council meetings ; and , WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood has previously approved participation by the City as a member of the Coalition of Cities with Original Jurisdiction in the Houston Lighting and Power Company rural rate hearing presently pending before the Public Utility Commission (PUC) of Texas ; and, WHEREAS, such hearing before the PUC will begin on August 30, 1982 , prior to the date that the City Council of the City� of Friendswood may take final action by ordinance approving the Houston Lighting and Power Company rate increase; NOW, � THEREFORE, ' BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS : Section 1 . That the City Council of the City of Friendswood hereby expresses its intent to act favorably on an � . ordinance substantively in the form attached hereto , and incorporated herein for all purposes , including a tariff and rate schedule attached thereto as Exhibit "A" , setting the rates which Houston Lighting and Power Company will charge its customers for the sale of electric power and energy within the City of Friendswood, Texas. Section 2. That the City of Friendswood , Texas, be permitted to participate as a member of the Coalition of Cities with Original Jurisdiction in the PUC hearing. Section 3. The City hereby waives written notice of hearing on appeal of this Resolution and interposes no objection to consolidation of consideration of this Resolution before the Public Utility Commission of Texas with any similar pending rural or municipal proceeding.
