AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION ON A
PORTION OF FM 2351 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF FRIENDSWOOD AND
PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation
has made it known to the City of Friendswood that operations will begin
in the near future to improve the existing roadway condition by
resurfacing the pavement with asphaltic concrete, and restriping the
pavement surface with thermoplastic pavement markings along FM 2351 ,
and;
WHEREAS, in the interest of safety, it is desirable to maintain
a construction speed zone during the construction period;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD that a
construction speed zone be established along FM 2351 from the west
city limits of Friendswood to the east city limits of Friendswood, a
distance of approximately 2.230 miles, 35 MPH to be effective when so
signed within said zone.
Necessary signs for posting the speed zones will be furnished,
installed, and maintained by the direction of the State Department of
Highways and Public Transportation engineer in charge of the project.
Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall , upon
conviction, be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200) .
This ordinance shall be in effect only during the period of construction
and completion of this project shall automatically cancel the speed
zones.
