AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE ZONING OF CERTAIN PROPERTY
FROM R-1 TO SPECIFIC USE - POWER COMPANY CONSTRUCTION
CENTER; CHANGING THE ZONING MAP ACCORDINGLY ; COMPLYING
WITH ORDINANCE 291 OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD KNOWN
AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS the Friendswood Planning & Zoning Commission and
the Friendswood City Council conducted a joint public hearing
on October 4 , 1979 to consider rezoning of the hereinafter
described tract of land from R-1 to Specific Use - Power Company
Construction Center; and
WHEREAS the hearing was duly called as provided by the
laws of the State of Texas and Ordinance 291 of the City of
Friendswood, and at such hearing all persons attending were
allowed to be heard on the question of whether or not the
rezoning of the tract from R-1 to Specific Use - Power Company
Construction Center would affect the public heal�h, safety,
morals , convenience or general welfare and whether or not such
rezoning would violate the rights of any interested persons ;
now, therefore ,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS :
Section l. That the zoning of the following described
property be and the same is hereby changed from R-1 to Specific
Use - Power Company Construction Center within the meaning of
the Zoning Ordinance , being specifically described as follows :
All that certain property situated in Galveston County ,
Texas , described as .follows , to wit :
5 acres , out of the North corner of Lot 1 of Burgess
Subdivision, out of the Beatty, Seale and Forwood Survey
No. 6 , in Galveston County , Texas , according to plat of
Burgess Subdivision of record in Vol. 119 , page 14 , in
the office of the County Clerk of Galveston County ,
Texas , more fully descr•ibed by metes and bounds as
follows :
Beginning at the intersection of the Northeast line of
said Lot 1 which is the Northeast line of said Beatty ,
Seale and Forwood or Patterson Surveys and also the
Southwest line of the Sarah McKissick or J. R. Williams
League , with the Southeast line of Farm Road 528 ;
Thence South 43° 25 ' East along the Northeast line of
said Lot l, a distance of 661. 3 feet to a point for
corner;
Thence South 43° 35 ' West at right angles to the
previous course , a distance of 330 feet to a point for
corner;
Thence North 46° 25 ' West and parallel to the Northeast
line of said Lot l, a distance of 658 . 71 feet to a
point for corner in the Southeast right-of-way line of
said Farm Road 528 ;
Thence North 43° 08 ' East along the Southeast right-of-
way line of said Farm Road 528 , a distance of 330 . 01
feet to the place of beginning, containing 5 acres , more
or less .
Section 2 . That the official zoning map of the City be
revised to show the tract rezoned from R-1 to Specific Use -
Power Company Construction Center.
Section 3 . This ordinance shall in no wise reduce , amend,
supplement or change any provision of any ordinance of the
City of Friendswood other than to accomplish the rezoning of
the tract descrived in Section 1 herein from R-1 to Specific
Use - Power Company Construction Center.
