AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS
ORDINANCE N0. 291, PASSED AND APPROVED ON NOVEMBER 7 ,
1977 , AND KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE , BY CHANGING
THE ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF A CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND
CONTAINING APPROXIMATELY FIVE ACRES , LOCATED AT 1306
DEEPWOOD STREET , FROM R-1 TO SPECIFIC USE - GOVERNMENT
BUILDING; AND PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS RELATING TO
THE SUBJECT.
WHEREAS , the Friendswood City Council and the Planning and
Zoning Commission conducted a joint public hearing on September
7 , 1978 to consider the rezoning of the hereinafter described
parcel of land from R-1 to Specific Use - Government Building ;
and
WHEREAS , the hearing was duly called as provided by the
laws of the State of Texas and Ordinance No. 291 of the City of
Friendswood , and that in such hearings all persons attending
were allowed to be heard on the question of whether or not the
rezoning of such tract from R-1 to Specific Use - Government
Building would affect the public health, safety , morals , conveni-
ence or general welfare and whether or not such rezoning would
violate the rights of any interested persons ; now therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
STATE OF TEXAS :
Section l. City of Friendswood , Texas , Ordinance No. 291
passed and approved on November 7 , 1977 , and known as the zoning
ordinance , is hereby amended by changing the zoning classifica-
tion of a certain tract of land located at 1306 Deepwood Street
from R-1 to Specific Use - Government Building, such tract being
more particularly described as follows :
Part of the Southwesterly one-half of Lot 9 and part of
Lot 7 , both in Block 6 of the TOWNSITE OF FRIENDSWOOD,
Galveston County, Texas , which said Townsite is part of
the J. R. Williams or Sarah McKissick League , according
to the map or plat thereof made and prepared for J. C.
League by R. W. Luttrell , C.E . , and described as follows :
BEGINNING at a point on the center line of a 40 foot road ,
said point being located North 45 deg. East 330 feet and
South 45 deg. East 491. 0 feet from the intersection of
the Southwest line of said Lot 9 with the Southeast line

of a 60 foot wide County Road;
THENCE South 45 deg. East along the center line of said
40 foot road, a distance of 979 feet to a point in the
center line of Cowart Creek;
THENCE in a Northwesterly and Westerly direction up the
center line of Cowart Creek to a point for corner on
the Southwest line of Lot 7 in said Block 6 ;
THENCE North 45 deg. West , along the Southwest line of
said Lot 7 and Lot 9 , a distance of 797 feet to a point
for corner;
THENCE North 45 deg. East , 330 . 0 feet to the place of
beginning , SAVE AND EXCEPT the strip of land 20 feet
wide extending along the entire Northeasterly boundary
line of said tract which has been reserved for purposes
of a public road and additionally SAVE AND EXCEPT and
not included, all that portion of the hereinabove property
lying within Cowart Creek, and containing 5 . 1 acres MORE
OR LESS.
Section 2 . The official zoning map of the City shall be
revised to show the above described tract rezoned from R-1 to
Specific Use - Government Building and the date of final passage
of the ordinance.
Section 3 . This ordinance shall in no way reduce , amend,
supplement , or change any provision of any ordinance of the
City of Friendswood other than to accomplish the rezoning of
the tract described in Section 1 from R-1 to Specific Use -
Government Building.
