HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 316 ORDINANCE N0 . �j �-, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS , ORDINANCE N0. 291, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE , BY CHANGING THE ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF A CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND BEING LOCATED AT OR NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF PECAN AND HERITAGE STREETS FROM R-1 AND R-3 TO SPECIFIC USE (FAMILY LIFE CENTER) ; CHANGING THE ZONING MAP ACCORDINGLY; AND PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT. WHEREAS , the Friendswood City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a joint public hearing on July 6 , 1978 to consider the rezoning of the hereinafter described parcel of land from R-1 and R-3 to Specific Use (.Family Life Center) ; and WHEREAS , the hearing was duly called as provided by the laws of the State of Texas and Ordinance No. 291 of the City of Friendswood, and that in such hearing all persons attending were allowed to be heard on the question of whether or not the rezoning of such tract would affect the public health , safety , morals , convenience or general welfare and whether or not such rezoning would violate the rights of any interested persons ; and WHEREAS , the Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended to the City Council the rezoning of such tract ; now, therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS : Section l. City of Friendswood , Texas , Ordinance No. 291 , passed` and approved on November 7 , 1977 , and known as the zoning ordinance , is hereby amended by changing the zoning classifica- tion of a certain tract of land located at or near Heritage Drive and Pecan Street from R-1 and R-3 to Specific Use (Family Life Center) , said tract being more particularly described as follows : A Tract out of Lots 1 and 2 , Block 2 , Friendswood Subdivision out of the Sarah McKissick or J. R. Williams League , Galveston County, Texas, according to the map or plat of said Subdivision recorded in Vol. 235 , Page 14 , in the Office of the County Clerk of Galveston County , Texas , and based on the original stakes set for said subdivision by R. W. Luttrell in 1895 and described as follows : f q_� _. � � ,,�,." � �,,. � , � � _ F , , ,�_... ;f� COMMENCING at the South corner of Lot l , Block 2 of said Subdivision , which is also the East corner of said Lot 2 , which point is in the center of a 60 foot road known as Heritage Drive ; THENCE N 45o00 ' W, along the common line between said Lots 1 � 2 , a distance of 30 feet to the beginning corner of the tract herein described; THENCE from said beginning point , S 45°00 ' W, parallel to the SE line of said Lot 2 , a distance of 227 feet to a point for corner, which point is the intersection of the Northwest line of said Heritage Drive with the Northeast line of a 60 foot road knwon as Pecan Drive ; THENCE N 45�00 ' W, along the NE line of said Pecan Drive and parallel to the NE line of said Lot 2 , a distance of 375 feet to a point for corner ; THENCE N 45°00 ' E, parallel to the SE line of said Lots 2 and l , at 227 feet cross the common line between said Lots 2 and l , at 391. 15 feet pass a 1/2 inch pipe set on the SW bank of a small gully , in all , a distance of 397 . 15 feet . Section 2 . The official zoning map of the City shall be revised to show the above described tract rezoned from R-1 and R-3 to Specific Use (Family Life Center) and the final date of passage of this ordinance. Section 3 . This ordinance shall in no way reduce , amend , supplement , or change any provision of any ordinance of the City of Friendswood other than to accomplish the rezoning of the tract described in Section 1 herein from R-1 and R-3 to Specific Use (Family Life Center) .
