CONSTRUCTION SPEED ZONE ORDINANCE �'� � �� '�
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION
ON FM 518 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF FRIENDSWOOD AND
PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF,
WHEREAS, the State Depaxtment of Highways a,nd Public Transportation
has made it known to the City of Friendswood that operations will begin in the near
future to improve FM 518 by doing grading, Lime Treated Subgrade, Cement Sta-
bilized Base, Asphaltic Concrete Pavement, and Pavement Markings, and
WHEREAS, in the interest of safety, it is desirable to mainta.in a construction
speed zone during the construction period;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF Friendswood that
a construction speed zone be established along FM 518 from a point 491 feet south
of Castlewood to the South City Limit of Friendswood, a distance of Approximately
2. 941 mile 35 MPH to be effective when so signed within said zones.
Necessaxy signs for posting the speed zones will be furnished, installed,
and mainta.ined by the direction of the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation engineer in chaxge of the project.
Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
.be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollaxs ($200).
This ordinance sha11 be in effect only during the period of construction, and
completion of this project shall automatically cancel the speed zones.
