AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD AMENDING A PART OF
ORDINANCE 87, SECTION 12.1 .4, MATERIALS AND USES, AS SHOWN
ON PAGE 27 OF SAID ORDINANCE; AMENDING SAME TO PERMIT USE
OF CPUC WATER PIPE WITH EXCEPTION; A�IENDING SECTION 19.5. 1 ,
TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES.
WHEREAS, it has been determined that CPVC pipe is equal to or better
than pipe required for hot water service as set forth in Ordinance 87,
with the exception of piping for pressure relief s.ystem,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS:
Section l . Section 12.1 .4, page 27, of Ordinance 87 is hereby
amended to include: Plastic, Pipe (CPUC) for use in Hot Water Distribution
with the exception as set forth in Section 19.5.1 of said Ordinance.
Section 2. Section 19.5.1 , page 47, Temperature and Pressure Relief
Valve, of said Ordinance 87 is hereby amended to read: All water heaters
shall be protected with a combination temperature and pressure_ relief valve__
installed in the hot water outlet side of the tank or in opening provided
for it in top of tank, such relief valve to be connected to the tank by a
12 inch long (minimum) pipe nipple. All piping in connection with the
pressure relief system shall be galvenized or copper. The temperature sending
element shall be immersed in the water within the upper six (6) inches of
the storage tank. The completed pressure relief system must withstand test
of 210 degrees at 100 pounds operating pressure with no leaks.
Section 3. This amended ordinance, upon passage, shall carry the same
penalties and standards of enforcement and administration as set forth in
Ordinance 87.
