HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 241-E ORDINANCE N0. 241-E AN ORDINANCE MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS; DESIGNATING PLACEMENT OF STOP SIGNS AT CERTAIN INTERSECTIONS; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Friendswood finds that the safety and welfare of the citizens of the City requires that a stop sign be placed at certain intersections; and WHEREAS the City Council agrees that the need for traffic control exists; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS: Section 1 . That the street intersections hereinafter set for�h be and are hereby designated to have non-mechanical stop signs placed as follows: Southeast corner of Mary Ann Drive at Christina Lane Northwest corner of Mary Ann Drive at Christina Lane Southwest corner of Mary Ann Drive at Castlelake Drive Northeast corner of Mary Ann Drive at Castlelake Drive Southwest corner of Castlelake Drive at Mary Ann Drive Northeast corner of Castlelake Drive at Mary Ann Drive Northeast corner of Stadium Drive at Mary Ann Drive Southwest corner of Stadium Lane at Mary Ann Drive Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person operating or in control of any motor vehicle or bicycle, to fail to bring such motor vehicle or bicycle to a complete stop at any stop sign within the city limits of Friendswood. Section 3. Any person operating such motor vehicle or bicycle who fails to bring such motor vehicle or bicycle to complete stop at any stop sign in the city limits of Friendswood shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in an amount not less than one dollar ($1 .00) nor more than two hundred dollars ($200.00) . Section 4. If any section, sentence, clause, phrase or word in this ordinance shall be held invalid for any reason, such invalidity shall not reduce or affect the validity of the remaining section or portions thereof, it being the intention of the City Council in adopting this ordinance to give full force and effect to all provisions of this ordinance, independent of those declared invalid. Section 5. The City Council deems it advisable that the rule requiring ordinances to be read on three separate and several days be suspended, and accordingly the rule is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall be in effect upon its passage and approval .
