AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING IN ITS ENTIRETY THE PROVISIONS OF THE
SOUTHERN STANDARD MECHANICAL CODE, 1973 EDITION AS PUBLISHED
BY THE SOUTHERN BUILDING CODE CONGRESS, PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY
IN VIOLATION THEREOF AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C�UNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOQ, STATE
OF TEXAS:
Section 1. That the Southern Standard Mechanical Code, 1973 Edition,
as published by the Southern Building Code Congress, is hereby adopted in
its entirety by reference, one or more copies of which Mechanical Code
are placed on file with the City Secretary of the City of Friendswood,
Texas, which Code is open for information and inspection of all interested
parties.
Section 2. That from and after the date of this Ordinance, its
passage and publication, all persons, firms and corporations shall be bound
by the provisions and obligations of said Southern Standard Mechanical Code,
1973 Edition, which is hereby adopted by reference, to the same extent as
though it was included in this Ordinance in its entirety and that any
violation thereof shall be subject to a penalty as hereinafter provided.
Section 3. The Citv Inspector of the City of Friendswood, Texas, is
hereby authorized to procure and issue permits in accordance with the
provisions of said Southern Standard Mechanical Code, upon payment of the
fees as hereinafter provided.
Section 4. Any person violating any of the provisions of this
Ordinance or any provisions of the Southern Standard Mechanical Code,
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conuiction thereof, shall
be fined in any sum not exceeding TWO HUNDRED ($200.00) DOLLARS.
Section 5. The fact that there does not now exist an Ordinance
regulating any such procedure, the issuance of permits, or other provisions
as outlined in the Southern Standard Mechanical Code, creates an emergency
and an imperative public necessity for the immediate preservation of the
pub1ic welfare and safety and in order to promote an orderly growth of
the community and the rule requiring that ordinances be read on the three
separate days before final passage thereof, be and the same is hereby
suspended and this Ordinance sha11 be effective from and after its passage
and approval and it is so ordered.
