HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 235-E ORDINANCE NUMBER 235-E AN ORDINANCE DECLARING CERTAIN FINDINGS: DESIGNATTNG THE PLACEME�T OF A STOP STGN AT A CERTAIN I�TERSECTION: PROVIDTNG A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION: PROVIDI�G A SEVERANCE CLAUSE: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS the City Council finds that the safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Friendswood requires that a stop sign be placed at a certain intersection; and, WHEREAS the following designated intersection requires , on the basis of an engineering and traffic survey conducted by the City and Police Department, traffic control to protect motorists from the danger of uncon- trolled intersections; and, WHEREAS the City Council agrees that the need for traffic con- trol exists; and therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CTTY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, DULY ASSEMBLED: SECTION 1 . That the street intersection hereinafter set forth be, and they are hereby designated to have non-mechanical stop signs placed as follows: NW corner of West Castle Harbour Drive at its intersection with Palm Aire Drive. NE corner of Palm Aire Drive at its intersection with West Castle Harbour Drive. SE corner of West Castle Harbour Drive at its intersection with Palm Aire Drive. SW corner of Palm Aire Drive at its intersection with West Castle Harbour Drive SECTZON 2. It shall be un1awful for any person operating or in contro1 of any motor vehicle or bicyc1e, to fail to bring such motor vehicle or �icycle to a complete stop at any stop sign within the city limits of Friends- wood. SECTION 3. Any person operating such motor vehicle or bicycle who fails to bring such motor vehicle or bicycle to a complete stop at any stop sign in the city limits of Friendswood shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in an amount not less than one dollar ($1.00) nor more than two-hundred-dollars ($200.00). SECTZO� 4. If any section, sentence, clause, phrase or word in this ordinance shall be held invalid for any reason, such invalidity shall not reduce or affect the validity of the remaining sections or portions thereof, it being the intention of the City Council in adopting this ordinance to give full force and effeet to all provisions of this ordinance, independent of those de- clared inva1id. .�. � • �., SECTTON 5. The City Council deems it advisable that the rule re- quiring ordinances to be read on three separate and several days be suspended, and accordingly, the rule is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall be in effect upon its passage and approval .
