AN ORDI^JANCE RE(al1LATING AND PRONIBITING CERTAIN FIREARMS ORD. #219
IN THE CORPORATE LICIITS OF THE CITY �F FRIErlDSG+1�0�, AND
PROVIL�ING R PE�JALTY FOR VIOLATI�PlS.
I�HEREAS, proper regulation of firearms, guns, and other pistols is
needed within the Corporate limits of the City of Friendswood; and
4+!NEREAS, current ordinances do not �rovide proper regulation;
NOW, THEREF0�2E,
. BE IT ORDAINE[� BY TNE CITY CnURlCiL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS:
I .
It sha7l be unlawful for any person to discharge any gun, pistol or
other firearm or any air rifle or air pistol of any descri�tion, by whatso-
ever name knot�►n that by means of compressed air, compressPd gas, springs, or
any other means is capable of discharging shots, pellets or any solid object
in, on, across or n�ar any house or any other buildinq, or in, on, across or
near any public square or street or qrivate ro�dway �ithin the limits of the
City of Friendswood. This ordinance shall nat be construed to prohibit any
officer of the law from discharging a firearm in the performance of his duty9
nor to any citizen from discharging a firearm when lawfully defending person
or pro�erty. Pravided, however, the above provisions of this ordinance shall
not be applicable to the discharge af firearms under the following conditions:
1. Smooth-bor� firearms may be discharged South of F.�1. Road No. 528
and West of F.M. Road No. 518, under the following conditions:
A. That the discharge of said firearms accurs not less than 500
feet from any house ar other building or any public square or
street, or any private roadNway.
B. That s�ring loaded, compressed air or compressed gas firearms
b� not larger than 1.77 calibre.
C. That shotguns be not larger than 12 guage, plugged to hold not
more than 3 she]ls and that the person discharging said shotgun
sha71 not use or have in his possession shot larger than No. 6
Shot.
2. Firearms may be discharged at bona fide gun clubs operatinq pur-
suant to a s�ecific use permit granted under Qrdinance No. 174;
operating as a non conforming use under the provisions of said
ordinance; or operating under some other applicable provision of
said ordinance.

An,y person who clischarges any gun, �isto] or other firearm or any
air rifle or air pistol of any description, hv ��vhatsoever name known, in
violation of the provisions of this ordinancP shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and u�on conviction shall be fined not more than Two Hundred
Dol7ars ($2(?n.0�) .

III.
If any section, sub-section, sentence, clause, phrase or portion
of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any
court of competent jurisdiction, such section, sub-section, sentence, clause,
phrase or portions shall be deemed se�arate, distinct, and an independent
provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions hereon.
